No way, was that...Pearl and Marina?!
" Is that?", Iris started, and the two turned to meet her eyes. Yup, definitely Pearl and Marina!
" Eight? EIGHT!", Marina exclaimed, running towards Iris.
" 'Rina! Wait up!", Pearl shouted, following behind.
" Surprise.", Ash said, bumping Iris in the side. Tears started to swell in Iris's eyes.
" Marina! Pearl!", she wailed, embracing the two as they ran up to her.
" Eight! I've missed you so much! I heard about what happened in your town, and I started to get worried, and I've been stressing so much about whether or not you were okay! And now you're here, and I can make sure you're alright!", Marina cried as she squeezed Iris.
" Careful! You're going to pop her if you squeeze so hard.", Pearl scolded. Iris laughed.
" I've missed you too Marina! And I've missed you Pearl!", she said, wiping the tears streaming down her face.
" But, how did you know when to see me?", she asked curiously.
" A little birdie told us you were coming, so we came to greet you. Thanks, Cap!", Pearl explained. Ash smiled shyly.
" How long are you guys staying for?", Iris asked. Marina frowned.
" We're only staying for the day, and we're going back first thing in the morning tomorrow.", she replied, disappointed.
" Well, we should start doing stuff and not waste our time!", Iris exclaimed.
Lily, Iris, and Ilyzia had all put their stuff in Ash's apartment for the time being, and left Lupa there as well.
" Are you sure she won't be tearing up the house while we're gone?", Ash asked.
" She's fully trained! She won't scratch a thing. Lupa, stay. We're heading out for a bit, so don't do anything to this household while we're gone, got it?", Lily said. Lupa somehow understood and even nodded. The wolf had laid down on the carpet in front of the mini couch in the living room and fell asleep.
As soon as everything was put away, everyone started heading toward Alterna. But before they could go, Iris had asked if it was okay to stay behind and hang out with Pearl and Marina for the day. Ash had approved her request, and the team headed off...on foot.
Lily, being human, couldn't travel through kettles, pipes, or anything like that because she's a human and nothing else. So, they had to take the long route and somehow walk to the crater.
Meanwhile, Pearl, Marina, and Iris were all enjoying cold drinks on a warm day in Splatsville.
" So, it's been a while since we talked. I want it all, spill the beans and give me the good stuff!", Pearl demanded.
" Pearl!", Marina scolded.
" What? I wanna know what's going on in her life since we've been gone!", Pearl exclaimed, defending herself. Iris blushed.
" Well, there is one major thing..."
" Oh?", Marina said, interested.
" I, uh, I'm kinda in love with someone.", Iris said softly, turning a light shade of pink.
" What?! Dude! That's awesome! Who is it?", Pearl burst.
" PEARL.", Marina said.
" WHAT?", Pearl replied.
" Well, we're kinda both in love with each other, and I've been in love with her for a long time. We kinda just confessed to each other a few days ago actually.", Iris admitted.
