Alaska
I have to show her a part of my past.
Are you insane? You will endanger her even more. Castle blabbers on and on along the way.
I mute him as I listen more to my instinct with her scent that swirls behind me, we mull over some bushes, she gets scrapes from the thorns and I offer to carry her on my back, but she blushes even harder and I like it.
She keeps up with my pace even when her legs are filled with small blisters, I become fond of her bravery even more. She probably knows more about us than the entire werewolves of this world.
My eyes soaks her in from time to time as the light shines on her eyelids, making her eyes golden and her lips a darkish shade of pink. She escapes my eyes as she roams around the patches of green.
I take a deep breath as we finally arrive to the scene in front of us. The part where we never clear this mess. I can hear her heartbeat changes as she gasps at the skulls around, the blood trails, the torn dresses and the grave of my mother in the middle. The shreds of what used to be our pack.
Great, now what? You going to show her your mom's skeleton? Castle retorts, not pleased about the girl.
But a part of me wants her to know so she can protect herself from the underlying threats that is a usual in my life. I know that she won't take her hand off of this. It's her most intrigued part of her personality: an obsession to know about us.
My impression is true as she runs to the places where there are wolf skulls, she squats down to touch them as her eyes feasts on the different tints of blood. Her eyes calculating each finding with intense curiousity.
"This is were our most vicious war happened. Every type of werewolf you can think of attacked us, but we didn't realize was-" I got cut off by her finishing the sentence.
"You guys were attacked by Primordials, a surprise attack back in 2005, where the biggest werewolf war came into place, breaking all kinds of binds between your pack and the royal packs, they backstabbed your pack, leaving some Primordials dead by Alpha Gideon but you lost the war." She explains, I leave my lips open as she makes me flabbergasted for the third time in a row.
This girl is sure full of surprises. I just have to outsmart her.
"My dad is Alpha Gideon." I add to her board of mental notes, I feel smug when I take her by surprise even though I don't like my dad very much. She gapes at me as she stands up.
"No way, you mean to tell me I looked stupid with a log in my hand in front of the infamous Alpha Gideon?" She screeches, her speechless hazels bores into mine as if she thinks that it's a joke, but my dead serious eyes brings it away.
She forgets the moment and goes back to her research. "How the hell did you fight the Primordials? They are the strongest werewolves!" She exclaims in a question and I am taken aback by how much she knows.
"How did you know they are Primordials?" I let out the most important question in my mind.
"Their smell, they have an intoxicating allure to their skulls, do you want to sniff it?"
"No, I'll pass." I reply as she quirkly takes it with her as a souvenir. I let her as her exciting giggles erupt my senses, making me feel happy inside. The night almost approaches.
We both meet by my mom's grave as I touch the tombstone, where daisies decorate the sand that she got buried with.
"How was your mom like?" She asks nervously.
I smile at her, "don't pretend that you don't know." I tease her and her bashful smile outs her as she chuckles.
"I know, but I can't know feelings, so tell me." She justifies, brushing her hair to the side of her shoulder.
"I know faint memories of her, she was caring and she sacrificed so much for the pack, she left her family to defend us. I try to remember but it's all blank." I explain as her eyes glow with understanding.
"I just have so many questions," She says and I chuckle at her hyper state. It feels like she's been waiting for this moment. "I mean I am sorry for what happened to your pack and for your mother but I just want to know everything and yeah, I am ranting and all that but-it's so thrilling-" she vents as she drawls her hands around with glistening eyes as the moon shows its presence.
"We still have time, but I have to figure out my dad first." I scratch the back of my head, wincing internally at the thought.
She huffs, deflated. "Fine, I guess I will have to wait for tomorrow since it's getting late."
We continue to walk serenely to the outskirts of the woods, and we stop for our goodbye. She looks at me hesitantly, her mind fighting a battle but her heart takes over as she gives me a bear hug, one I don't know I needed. I hug her back as my dad's booming howl reminds me of what I have to face now.
Let's hope your plan works or we'll be dead meat. Castle reminds me.
"I'll see you at school." She squeaks as her face flushes and I give her a smile before she strolls off, I make sure she gets home safely since it's near and I delve back into the woods.
My brother and dad stand next to each other like soldiers with solemn expressions on their hard faces when I approach them, they both acknowledge that I have shown her our history.
"I think I know how to win back our related packs." I announce.
