There's just so much beauty to take in. The moonlight sneaks out between the array of flowers that surrounds the logs that are splattered around with vine leaves. The ground narrow and dangerous, yet it adds the contrast to the patches of mud. The entire forest looks like a painting.

A devastatingly beautiful painting. A forest like that just can't be a place of war.

Yet here we are, planning the upcoming battle with the different types of werewolves that belong to distinct packs all over Oregon. I pay attention to how his brother glances at me in distrust from time to time, and how the Alpha stiffens as he animatedly talks to Alaska.

I don't blame them, I wouldn't trust me either. they had never gotten into fights with humans, so they won't know what it's like to kill one, much as interact with one.

Until now, until me.

I'm going to be the one that shows them how to allure the shape-shifters into their trap. A new sense of hope uplifts me as I realize my importance; I need to save the Alcayas pack like Alaska saved me from the scar of death.

". . .so that's where Aspen comes in as a surprise to misguide them from our trail, so they would get close to our borders. That way we can target them because we have around three borders. I talked to Alvera from the Moon Pack, she's going to scan the area and report to me," Alaska's voice coats my ears and I look at the way he explains to his dad, the glowing perseverance in his orbs, his long eyelashes flutter against each other. "So, the plan is that we spread Aspen's scent around the trees to trap the Canis Rufus in the Desel Pack, Canis Lycaon in Bane Pack will only follow Desel since they are close to each other."

"You want to include this little girl for the royal pack war?" Beta Allen asks incredously, which makes me mad at his tone of voice.

"I'm not a little girl, I fought off a Canis Rufus and I know about every wolf there is, I can help you in strategies to target them and I know where they usually are." I smugly reply to his face. I'm even prouder when he goes silent because he knows it's true.

My knowledge in werewolves can finally help the werewolves themselves. There are some things that they have no clue about.

The Alpha crosses his arms, his eyes turns lighter when he looks at me, making me slightly queasy. "Be here tomorrow morning, we need to start spreading your scent for the Desels, we will also have a meeting since you want to showcase the strategies you learnt about." He dictates towards us before he and Beta Allen shift into their wolves.

"Nice family, I guess." Alaska's voice drips in sarcasm as we watch them storm off.

"Very welcoming." We both look at each other and chuckle.

We stroll around the woods, deep in thoughts about the plans that they gave their approval in: first off, spread scent. Secondly, call in alliances and meeting with them to tell them what I know. Thirdly: Catch Desels at the borders.

"What time should you get home?" Alaska gives me a worried glance, it's because I almost slept in his car.

I check my watch and frown. "In about ten minutes, I'm dead meat. Holland is gonna torture me." I cover my face, not looking forward to my brother's lectures.

Alaska takes my hands off of my face, showing his smirk. "Hop on, Asp." He orders and turns his back to me.

I giggle like a school girl as he holds onto the back of my legs and speeds up through the empty sides of the road. The cold air slaps through my face as my cheeks brighten at how my arms are wrapped around his neck.

In a matter of seconds, we are in front of my house and I fix my bag on my shoulder as he salutes me like a captain and I give him a thumbs up, he disappears into the forest again and I stare off into the distance he was gone in.

"Aspen, you're three minutes early." Holland's shocked eyes greet me.

"I'm finally saved from your punishments." I pat his shoulder playfully before I come in.

"Who drove you here?" Suspicious lines emerge on his forehead.

"A friend-"

"But you don't have friends."

"I don't care, I'm going to sleep." I yell as I begin to climb upstairs to my room.

I close my bedroom door peacefully and settle my bag on the table, I slump on the bed, drained and exhausted from the running party we had with the wolf and the forest. My body aches from running but when I lay down, it feels better so I stay there for a while.

Then, I shift to my side and sit up slowly. I have a lot of reading to do, so I open my drawer and take out the werewolf wars book that I borrowed from the library.

I make sure to prop myself comfortably on the space beside the window, bending my knees and opening the book. As I start reading about the ancient war with the first werewolves pack to ever exist, a wolf's howl makes me shift my gaze from the book to the window.

I squint as much as I can to see the group of wolves trailing towards the woods and my heart sinks in my stomach. What if they are going to attack Alaska and his family?

Hurrying up, I put on my black hoodie and my matching shoes. I'm going to have to sneak out from the back door, I waste no time getting out of the house.

More sounds come from the woods as the mud splashes everywhere, thorns are flying off with wolves harshly beating each other up.

"Aspen, what are you doing here?"

"Alaska-"

He growls loudly at something behind me as blackness suddenly consumes me.
