The stares, the people that crowd over the parking lot, and the snarls like they are human wolves makes me want to puke.
I hate all of the attention that is directed towards us. Maybe it's because I'm not used to it, but the fact that Alaska stands flawlessly beside me gives me additional scowls from the girls.
My alter-ego tells me that I should be confident, but the cold rush inside of me makes me irritated. Alaska makes his way through the crowd to the entrance with me behind him, following him through the narrow hallway with our hands connected. I gaze at the 'RIP DANIEL' posters and a heavy feeling settles in my stomach when my instincts tell me that it's just the beginning of a bad ending.
"He was too easy to kill, but his mother kinda has a grudge on us," he carelessly says as we walk to the classroom, "I should have done this the moment he gave you the scar but I had other stuff to deal with."
"I hated him with a passion, I'm glad you got him over with," I admit as I place my bag on the desk before looking at his steady features, "what about the rest? They'll want to avenge Daniel, right?"
My thoughts are confirmed when Alaska's expression turns serious as he glances at me, "yea, we'll have to hunt the rest down."
Mr. Santos comes in and the students, one of them being Daniel's groupie named Selen with her restless eyes haunting both of us before she sits at the far back, she used to be his date. I tune out the teacher as I perch my arm on the rail of the window overlooking the trees and dirt, there's nothing special about school. It's the same school that mom used to go to, but they made a lot of renovations to what used to be an old, dusty building.
I glance at the pale guy beside me, he's writing about the history research paper, his lips part in concentration and his thick eyebrows are slightly pulled together as be scribbles down the notes, it seems like he loves history class, I wish I can say the same when it comes down to me. I easily lose interest, but I pay attention to little details if it's only about werewolves. I'm too focused with them.
My eyes shift to the serene view until I spot yellow eyes between the dirt and the thin trees. It's the same wolf, I let him know that I saw him as he lifts his head up and twirls around the the tree like he wants to fight before he flails his tail and jumps further away to the woods.
I jump slightly when Alaska puts his hand on my shoulder, his face etches with concern and I let out a small smile before class continues on, I should probably tell Alaska that we are being watched but I also have to wait until the plan tonight. Nobody gets attacked in broad daylight, so that should give us a head start.
The bell rings after two more classes, signalling the break as students file out the class. I can tell Alaska's patience is thinning out by the minute as he raises a confused eyebrow at me. "Are you okay?"
I sigh as I turn myself fully to face him, we are still in the empty classroom, "I saw a strange wolf with yellow eyes and dark fur, he followed us here and he ran away."
A flash of recognition makes Alaska's eyes turn white as his wolf seethes in anger, I place a hand on his shoulder, trying to decipher what he knows, but all I have is a blanked out Alaska. His eyes changes back to normal and his jaw ticks, he appears beyond vexed as he harshly breathes.
"They are back." He says.
"Who?"
"I can't believe it. They lied to us, they disobeyed the treaty between us."
I shake his shoulder, my eyes dead serious on him.
"Who are they?"
He finally meets my eyes, a hint of fear in his before it disappears.
"The Canis Rufus, the Vezca Pack." He responds gravely, his fists clenched tightly on the desk.
I try to remember what I studied about them, "aren't they the ones who hide behind mountains and eat human flesh for survival. . ."
As I recall, my eyes widen at Alaska.
"He's after me."
That confirms my theory when Alaska gives it away, but he intertwines his fingers with mine.
"I won't let them get to you," he promises and my heart skips a beat to his soothing voice, before he continues, "we're going to change the plan since they're here. We need to let them flee."
I nod and we both stand up to go, hand in hand as he carries my bag with his on one shoulder. For a fairly skinny guy with abs, he's full of strength since my bag is overpacked.
Stop talking like a fangirl. I awkwardly remind myself.
Many questions forms up in my mind and I get completely dazed to the point where I don't notice Selen's blatant stare at us, she gets closer and stops, looking at our faces with a hatred that could kill anyone.
"You did this!" She screams, her hair in a messy bun and she looks sickly with pale skin. The students beginning to overhear. Alaska gets me behind as he stands in front. "You killed Daniel, you will pay for this." Her threat loud and clear as she storms away, making all of them chatter endlessly.
"Back to classes people, there's nothing to see here." Much to my relief, the supervisor calls over to the pupils and they pass giving us scowls and glares. It's intentional for Selen to do this, she's one of the popular girls that used to swoon over Daniel. Then, his comrades appear with deadly smirks on and haunting eyes, Mark and Lucas with matching blonde quiffs cracking their knuckles, Jeff and Landon crossing their arms as their muscles bulge out.
Against me and Alaska for a fight.
