I freeze, not knowing what should I do. What I learnt won't affect the raging wolf and I can't run with my bag.

You got this.

I calm myself down as I bravely walk to the woods with the Canis Rufus behind, my nerves are a jumbled mess and at this moment, I wish I have a mind link with Alaska.

We don't get entirely into the woods, my shoulders shake when I try to peek behind me at the wolf, I don't find him anywhere. My heart hiccups rapidly when I trip on the thorns and land on my butt with the wolf lands over me me as I scream in surprise, his canines glints at me while I clasp a log and place it between his canines, gaining more time.

He growls and moves his head powerfully, the mischief in his yellowish eyes as he successfully removes the log from my hands, flying away to the side. I wince at the slit that forms on my palm as the creature gets off of me by another wolf clashing into him; he has a white crescent moon on the middle of his light brown fur. My body shivers when I spot the two wolves stand still as they glare at each other before the dark wolf retrets.

The other wolf that defended me is from the Peace Pack, they are harmless and they set justice to the royal packs. They are vicious when they want to be, but when only the rules are broken within the chains of werewolves. The badass thing about them is that they can turn into clothed humans. He shifts to his human form and what surprises me is that he's a pretty muscled guy, the big guns as his arms, broad shoulders and tall with grey curls, his intensely brown eyes looks at me thoughtfully and I grimace when I stand up with dusty clothes.

I'm about to say something but another figure comes up, Alaska's bare pale chest glistens with a few bruises as he nears me.

"You should keep her away, you're only endangering the human more." The guy says to Alaska, who grabs my hand that has a wound in it. He puts his hand over mine for a few minutes before he takes it off, healing the wound completely. With somber eyes, he stares back at the guy and the guy nods before he dissolves into thin air.

Did I forget to mention peaceful wolves can be invisible?

Alaska doesn't even bother to say a word to him, instead, he's using mind link so I don't know about their conversation. I don't understand why he feels the need to do that around me, but it's probably because he doesn't want his dad to know what happened if he talks. Maybe he can make his mind link secretive.

I glance at my healed hand and Alaska appears like he's a giant fireball, he has the most pissed-off look I've ever seen with crossed eyebrows, jaw bone ticking and thin-lipped.

"Alaska, nothing happened-"

"Let's go," He snaps and takes my hand. I try to comfort him by squeezing his hand but he manages to look even more irritated as he adds, "Didn't I tell you to stay away? If it wasn't for Vil, you would be dead."

I stay silent as I contemplate on what happened.

"I don't think that Canis Rufus wanted me to be dead."

"He did."

"If he really did, he would have ended me in an instant."

Alaska puts my bag on the backseat when we reach the car and get in. I get annoyed that he doesn't look convinced, I place my hand on his that's on the steering wheel to stop him from driving.

"You don't understand the danger in this, Aspen." He states, his eyes glowers at mine, turning a darkest shade of blue.

"I do." That's all I have to say to Alaska.

He lifts me up from my seat with one arm and turns the seat backward, putting me on his lap with ease. He softens his gaze as he tangles both of our hands together and my legs settle serenely on the sides of his upper thighs.

"You don't know how I felt when I thought I almost lost you, the wolf I fought with told me that you died. Don't you realize how much you mean to me? Asp, I've been here for you through your whole life," I hold his hands tighter, tears forming on the side of my eyes at his troubled ones, "I don't want you to get hurt because of me, let me fight for you on my own-"

"But it's not your decision to make. I want to be a part of this and I can handle all the risks that comes with it. I thought we talked about this, you mean a lot to me Alaska, but I can't just stand by, I know I can help."

He knows how I won't back down because I show it to him through our gaze. His shoulders slump in defeat and I give him a small smile.

It feels like the car is getting warmer as the night settles in, he hugs me to his chest as I listen to his heartbeat at the same time he kisses my forehead. The tingles explode a million times in my body as I close my eyes, exhausted for the day. His embrace is everything I needed.

"Asp, we need to go see dad and my brother tonight." He whispers as he plays with my hair, following another kiss on the side of my head. He tightens his hold around my body.

"Just a minute." I whisper back, trying to save this memory in my mind.

After a moment of silence, he confesses, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have shown you who I was, it's all my fault."

That wakes me up as I pull away and place a finger on his lips.

"Let's go see the Alpha."
