My eyelids are sticking but I manage to open them to the streaming lights above me. My brain feels numb and my hands shake on my sides.
"You're awake." Holland's bloodshot eyes makes me weary. He touches my face with his hands as tears escape his eyes and blotches my neck.
"Y-Yes." I croak out and he sits me up gently then he grabs the glass of water and gingerly place it on my lips to drink.
I start feeling refreshed after I gulp down the water and Holland lays me back down. My mind starts to mention Alaska and I grow alert as snippets of what happened from being in Alaska's arms to the thing that was behind me.
"Holland, where is mom?"
He sighs as he crosses his arms.
"I told her to go get some rest, she hasn't slept since yesterday," He answers as he holds my hand, "we were worried sick, where did you disappear to?"
"I don't remember, can you bring me some food?" I whisper, attempting to breathe slowly through my nose.
He stands up quicky and nods. "But we are gonna talk after this." He points at me and I crack a smile for him. He winks and leaves to get some food, I feel slightly guilty but I take off the wires from my hands and my feet touches the cold floor.
I bend down to put on my shoes that were on the side of the hospital bed and tug on my sweater that was in the hanger and my jeans, which was harder to get into because my impatient side decided to put shoes first. I ignore the bad stench and grip the window open as I shove my body out slowly. The adrenaline buzzes through me but my heart stills whispers his name.
Holland is going to freak out on me, but he'll eventually understand.
I make sure the coast is clear and make a run for it. My shoes squish on the puddles of water as the chilly winds strikes me again.
My vision gets blurry and I halt to blink through. The houses appear golden from the dawn light, the birds sing along to a new day and I scan my bearings until I spot dark hair and my hope gets up but it's not my wolf.
It's his brother. The one I hate.
He grips both of my shoulders as his freaky eyes scorns me, I spot the blood on his bare arms and my heart sinks into my stomach when I realize the deep scratches on his chest.
"It's all because of you." Allen growls at me.
"What?" I question viciously, done with Allen. For whatever reason he hates me for, he sure makes it clear now as my shoulders stings from his hold.
"We had the battle just fine before you came. Alaska got hit by a silver arrow because of you. Why don't you do us a favor and disappear from our lives?" He seethes in disgust with cruel glinting purples.
Don't you dare cry, Aspen. He wants you to give up on Alaska. My conscience reminds me and I stand up straighter.
"Never." As soon as I reply, he harshly grabs my body on his back and speeds up to a cabin in the woods in seconds. He drops me on the ground and points to the cabin.
"Go on and look at what you did." He sneers as he storms off.
I don't catch a second to breathe as the pressure on my legs goes faster to check up on my wolf inside. The moment I see Alaska's closed eyes and a bleeding big bandage on his leg, I lose it as the streams of tears set loose with a gasp at how sweaty he got.
My hand entangles with his heated palm and I prop my head on the other hand. There was nobody except for us, so I scan around the cabin until I find the small wet cloths. I pull away from Alaska to stand up and I walk over to snatch the cloth before taking my earlier position, I dab the cloth on his forehead wiping his sweat.
After fifteen minutes, the door opens to reveal the silver-haired girl, she acknowledges me with a small smile. I smile back politely and gaze back at Alaska, placing the cloth on the table as I brushed off his hair to the back with my fingers.
I care about him too much. I can't help but want to avenge for him.
"You know, he talks a lot about you." She says, sitting beside me and I look at her. She's nice to me so far, maybe my jealousy got misplaced.
"What does he say?" I question as I fixate my eyes on the brave guy laying in front of me.
"He often told me about what you eat on the hill, the way you look at him. You know, he's been watching you ever since you were a little girl and he really pays attention to everything you do." She whispers, as if sadly, and I lift his hand up to my life as I give him butterfly kisses.
"Thank you for telling me." I state to the girl next to me as I shift to her, she nods at me with elated round eyes.
"I'm Alvera." She places her hand out for me to shake and I do so with a matching smile.
"I'm Aspen. Nice to meet you." I say shyly as we pull away from the handshake.
"Nice to meet you aswell."
"Do you know what happened?" I ask her curiously.
"Yes, he wanted revenge on what they did to you and we attacked the Desels after they started it first. . .only two members got injured from my clan, but they are alright now," she rants, her eyes in a daze with a little scowl on her face as she continue, "except Alaska, they shot the silver arrow onto his leg, he needs to rest for three days until it heals."
I nod gratefully and Alaska fidgets, making me look back at him.
