"Watch out!"
The heat overflows my body as my adrenaline skyrockets in fear for him, the fear numbs my heart as I watch the scene unravel.
Alaska grabs Jeff by the neck and rails him onto his friend Landon, Mark tries to surprise him from behind but Alaska already senses his existence and sweeps him with his leg, letting his head bash onto the ground as Alaska's arms carries Lucas swiftly from behind him and twists his body onto Mark, the supervisor, Mr. John shivers in his place at the same time Alaska dusts his hands off with a sexy smirk.
Viola, one of the girls that's in the popular group, records what happens with her phone as the others watch the most exciting thing of their lives, but none of them dares to cheer once Selen looks at them. The hierarachy was just another superficial highschool thing. She's a raging dragon when she runs out of the school.
The pile of Daniel's group groan, Lucas coughs blood out and Mark with a swollen lip, Jeff grabs his head in agony and Landon gingerly holds his frail hand. It could have been worse, but Alaska took it easy on them before.
I assess Alaska's glowing eyes and wide smile, he enjoys a good battle. Mr. John interrupts his victory, "you're coming with me, you got detention for an hour and a warning letter for each one of you." He gives Alaska a disdained glare and signals for the other boys to come as well, they get up with painful groans.
"See you later, Aspen." Alaska says slyly with a wink and I chuckle at his playful nature.
I have two classes left before the end of the day as the afternoon sun radiates on my face. I stop dead in my tracks as Holland races towards me.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" He hollers and I take a step back as his eyes shows different emotions from confused to hurt to intense.
"What are you talking about?"
"Don't pretend. Selen told me that you got into a fight with Daniel's group and that there was a guy with you. Where is he?" He scans around as he hardly breathes, "I'm gonna beat his ass." I grab his upper arm to get his attention.
"Selen is making stuff up, Alaska isn't a bad guy-" it's too late. I shouldn't have told my brother about Alaska, but it slipped up and he notices when I stiffen like I regret it.
"Who's that?" He interrogates, but relaxes a bit at the fact that I'm not in a fight. He fixes his brown leather jacket before he crosses his arms.
"He's just my classmate. There's nothing to worry about, I'm fine and there isn't a fight." I show him with my hands at the empty hallway, "now if you don't mind, I have a class to get back to."
"We're talking about this after school."
"No, I'm staying late in the library. I'll call you later." I finalize to my defiant brother with his sour face on.
He stares dead into my eyes, but then he budges. "Alright, but don't think that we aren't talking about this when you get back home." He warns, letting me off the hook.
I join the class, sending a meek smile to Mr. Shawn, our Literature teacher. I get a frown at him when I take my usual seat beside the window. He's an impatient man, anyone can tell by the way he explains like he's in a rush to end his miserable lesson. My classmates sneak glances at me as girls on the side gossip and giggle to each other, but I catch words like 'killer' and 'slut' — it's a good thing that I never care for these things. There's a bigger world existing out there that they don't know about. Somewhere pretty but can be volatile at the same time.
I'm exhilarated to be in a part of something bigger, pushing away the downsides of being finally in the 'werewolf world' as I like to call it. My family is also on the line, the Canis Rufus are going to inspect my whereabouts and they are most likely to come after my mom and Holland.
After my two classes are finished, I quickly rush to Alaska. My eyes scan the classroom and I spot the familiar soft blonde curls that covers his forehead, I wave at him and he smiles his side smile at me, making stars burst on my skin.
It's like he loves holding my hand as his hand wraps around mine, our fingers clasping around each other. I gaze up at him and he's already gazing back at me, I shyly look forward and I can feel his stare on the side of my face.
"Did the guys say anything to you?" I inquire as the students group up to talk about us more. We are officially the school's hottest topic.
He fixes his black sleeve with his other hand. "No, they're just a bunch of cowards." He answers as we stroll out to the parking lot.
We stop dead in our tracks as the wolf in front of us stands. Alaska grimly mind links the yellow-eyed wolf as he nods his head towards the woods.
"Asp, I have to deal with this alone," he senses my persistence, "just trust me this time." He places his forehead on mine as our eyes connect, him comforting my worried glances, our breaths mingling before he pulls away and runs with the wolf into the woods.
I sigh, messing with my long hair as I wander with my thoughts along the way to the bus stop. What if something happens to him now? All the negative thoughts in the world appears in my mind as I play with my necklace, my legs became tired when I arrive. The wind blows on my face.
But I don't get to enter the bus because when I turn around, I find a large grey wolf snarling at me.
