"I don't get why my brother is making us look for fucking birds," Joy grumbled, lowering the binoculars away from her eyes. "We're a support group, not bear scouts."

She was honestly right- for once. On one of the few, rare sunny days in the rainy season, Jake thought it'd be a nice little adventure for the group to head out to the outdoor area beside the hospital and look for birds. Birds. Of all things. Like they totally weren't in the middle of a dense metropolitan area.

Jake was an exceptionally brilliant individual there was no doubt about that but he desperately needed a crash course on understanding teenagers because museums and bird watching weren't hitting the spot.

But it wasn't going too bad. Since there was a chill, they gave Alexis a thicker blanket to wrap around her shoulders. Cole and Nora were the only ones enthusiastic enough to look for birds. Cole was leading their search, explaining to Nora about all the types of birds that existed.

Lucas always found interest in biology but he wasn't exactly the best so this was somewhat of an good experience. Joy was indifferent as always.

Well, more indifferent than usual after their accident a week ago. There wasn't much he could really change, but at least she was there spending time with him even if it only lasted for the entire two hours of the meeting.

From time to time they switched who got to use the binoculars, but besides that, they were just standing by the garden, staring up at nothing in particular. At times, someone would excitedly yell about a bird only to be disappointed by an aircraft or some weirdly shaped cloud.

"You're in a sour mood," Lucas glanced over at Joy, noticing how a scowl recently found its new home over Joy's lips, completely replacing the smile he was used to seeing on the daily.

"There are no fucking birds," She ignored him like she usually did lately. She handed the binoculars to him.

"I want to leave," Joy said, scanning the area for Jake.

"Then leave," Lucas rolled his eyes. He brought the binoculars to his eyes his but shortly gave up after.

"But then I'd get obliterated," She whined. "I want to sleep. I slept for four hours yesterday."

"Okay, and?" He asked, not seeing the point of this conversation.

"There is a party tonight at a friend's place. You guys wanna come?" Nora asked standing beside Lucas.

"I am in." Bea squealed in excitement. Alexis hummed along as Cole stopped to catch his breath.

"Text me the address. It's been a long time since I went to a party." Joy sang as she stretched her arms.

"You in, Lucas?" Nora asked as she took a chug of cold water.

"Sure, I guess." Lucas shrugged as Jake rushed them to look around more.

"When was the last time you went to a party?" Joy asked, the two of them now standing by a a lot of multicolored flowers. The binoculars were now hanging, forgotten, from a thin lanyard around her neck.

"My senior year of high school. I think I was seventeen," Lucas said nonchalantly.

"You're twenty one right?"

"Yep," He replied. "I celebrated my last birthday a few months ago with Laura." He added lightly.

"Oh," Joy murmured. He glanced over at her to see that Joy was looking the other way.
