"GET DOWN!!"

Tai barely ducked under a flying tackle from the creature, which they all decided to just call Ruby since it...well, reacted to it. and looked like her. Also, Summer wouldn't stop screaming her name and begging her to stop, so they kind of went with it.

Qrow struck with the blunt side of Harbinger, slamming it into her side and making her roll with a yell. Once righted, she glared at him, lunging and forcing him to block her claws.

The brief struggle was ended as Ruby put more power into her arms, pushing Qrow to the floor while she raised a claw high to end him. Then just like before, a fist connected with her cheek and launched her from her quarry, once again belonging to Tai.

"Thanks for the save."

"Don't ment-" He didn't get to end the sentence before he was tackled, slammed hard in the chest before he was thrown in the air with the flex of her wing.

"...Probably should mention it shouldn't I?" Her eyes locked onto him, the sound of jet engines began to fill the air as he gulped down his nervousness.

Whatever she was planning on doing, it was probably going to hurt...a lot.

Tai landed with a groan next to Summer, his aura tanking the hit but clearly winded from the slam. "Sum...any chance you can help...?"

She didn't respond, locked in shock at how this...monster, had her daughter's face. At first, she was skeptical, but after seeing the picture, and how different yet similar she was, plus the name response...it had to be Ruby.

But...why is she so different? So animalistic?

"What happened to you...?

Back with Ruby and Qrow, the engine sounds grew to their peak as she stepped back from Qrow. His guard was put up, but he clearly didn't expect a literal rocket tackle from her.

She blasted forward using her wings, colliding with Qrow and sending the man hurtling through the air, and straight off the side of the mountain. She followed after him, claws extended and ready to pierce his skull and end his life...

Before a bird replaced him?

She was caught on the event, confused at how a bird was suddenly there instead of the man she was going to-

Wait...

In her moment of bafflement, Qrow sailed over head, turning back to normal just as she realized what happened. She spun around, but was too late to react as Harbonger came down on her.

CRACK!!

Qrow immediately shifted back to a bird, watching as Ruby roared, much like a Hawk, and fell to the Earth far below. He cracked her chest from that attack, and with how it was glowing red and moving a lot, he thought it was a good spot to hit.

Turns out he was right.

He flew back up to the others, shifting back to normal. "Okay, she's got a nasty scratch on her chest now, just below her bouncers with those red lines."

"Is she okay?!"

Qrow looks back over the edge. "I don't know...that's a pretty long fall."

Before they could even register it, Summer was already running past them, jumping off the side of the cliff. "Summer! Dammit, why is she so adamant that it's Ruby?!"

"Her disappearance hit us all hard Qrow, and you've seen how hard it hit her."

He sighed, quickly running off and diving to catch up to her. Since she had a semblance for short range teleportation, he knew she could land safely.
