Brian walked up to ITU before he got engrossed in any work and found Jeremy sitting talking to Tom. He looked up and Brian said, "How's she doing?" Jeremy gave a small smile, "The swelling has definitely gone right down so the ITU guys are stopping sedation this morning. Dan's gone home to see the kids. They're completely traumatised." Brian nodded sadly, "And are you guys okay?" Tom smiled and rubbed Jeremy's back, "We're managing aren't we Jem." Jeremy gave a weak smile and looked at his boss, "Yeah, Robyn's Mom is helping her look after the children so I can be here. Dan and Max are just about holding it together, but Susan's in a really bad place, John's worried sick about her as well as Allie." Brian sat down and looked sadly at the girl lying motionless in the bed, "I'm here all day if you need me. I'll call up later to see how she is without the sedation. I know it's nerve-wracking, but everyone who's reviewed those scans say they look good." Jeremy ran his hand down the uninjured side of her face, "Yeah, I know, I just can't relax until we get her off the ventilator and awake, talking to us."

Tom sighed, "My family are coming here now for the holidays. None of us can think of going out of town while she's in here." Brian nodded, "And what about the police, have they said anything?" Tom shook his head, "Chris is blaming himself because they discovered it was his ex- girlfriend, Shannon and the receptionist Max sacked who tipped those people off about when they'd be in the park. They traced the message back to an IP address used by Candice's flatmate, but she says Candice and Shannon asked to borrow her laptop the night the message was sent. They'd set up an anonymous social media account and let them know times, routines, where to drive. Chris keeps saying he brought Shannon and Candice into Allie's life, put her in danger, but Dan and Max have told him over and over he couldn't have known what they'd do." Jeremy shook his head and looked steely, "There'd better be a special place in hell for the people who did this to her."

Everyone felt the weight of the day, and Daniel came back with Max to sit and wait anxiously. A few hours after they'd stopped the sedation Aaron Kendrick came in and asked them to step outside while they tested stopping ventilation. Daniel couldn't help but shake as they waited, but a nurse called them back fairly quickly and the doctor looked satisfied as they came back in and said, "She did good. We've just moved her onto oxygen and she's holding up well. Hopefully she'll start to come around in the next couple of hours. Tom messaged everyone with an update knowing how worried they all were, and he went to get them all some drinks to settle their nerves. Eventually Jeremy noticed her right hand moving and he said, "Dan, she's moving, I think she's waking up." Daniel kissed her, "Allie sweetheart, come on wake up. You can do it." Max felt her squeeze the hand he was holding and his eyes filled up and he said, "That's it Allie, come back to us." Ten minutes later she opened her eyes and saw her husband through slightly blurred vision and became aware she was in a world of pain and confusion." She managed to gasp "Dan!" in a small hoarse whisper but he was euphoric at the sign she was still his Allie." He sobbed out, "I'm here baby, you're in the hospital." She suddenly had a memory of the car, and with the alarm on her monitoring going off in response to her heart pounding in panic she rasped, "Emmie!" Jeremy leaned over her from the opposite side of the bed and said, "Allie, Emmie's safe, calm down sweetheart." The nurse came in and Tom explained as Allie's breathing slowed and she said, "Hurts so much, can't stand it, everywhere." Jeremy turned to the nurse and said, "Can you call Aaron? She needs something quickly." She realised Max was there and a tear ran down her face as she managed to whisper his name. Jeremy moved to let Aaron in and he said, "Hey Allie, I'm Dr Kendrick, Aaron. Can you tell me how bad the pain is with ten being like the worst ever. Allie rasped in agony and managed to say, "It's a ten, I literally can't stand it. Hurting everywhere so bad." He nodded, "Okay, try not to panic, I'll go and get something, and we'll get rid of the worst of it really quickly okay." He left and Jeremy picked up her hand and kissed it saying, "Hang in there." She looked at Daniel who was stroking her hair and said, "The car, it hit me didn't it." Daniel nodded sadly and Aaron returned with a tray, and taking her hand from Max quickly injected something into the IV line. Within a minute or two they could see it was working and she relaxed, drifting in and out of sleep for the rest of the day.
