Allie checked her watch and made her way from the cafeteria to Jeremy's office on the off chance he'd be free. When she got there the door was closed and the admin staff were still on lunch. There were no clinic patients around and she could hear voices so she knocked softly. Jeremy opened the door and looked shocked but broke out in a wide smile saying, "Hey Allie, what brings you here?" Stepping in, Allie saw Brian was the owner of the other voice and she smiled and said, "Hi Brian, Landon had an appointment and I came with him. He got a clean bill of health and went back to work, so I thought I'd come and see if my favourite doctor was free. Jeremy grinned and Brian stood up from where he was perched on the edge of the desk, "Lovely to see you Allie, I'll leave you to it." Allie looked anxiously, "If you guys were busy I can catch up with Jem another time. I don't want to chase you off Brian." Jeremy's boss laughed, "I was just bringing Jeremy up to speed on something Allie. We were pretty much done so you're not interrupting anything important." Jeremy had slung an arm around her and Brian winked and said, "You two catch up and I'll see you next week for the project meeting Allie."
Left alone Jeremy wrapped his other arm around her and said, "Got time for coffee?" She beamed and nodded, following him to the staff kitchen. Allie jumped to sit on the counter as he grabbed some cups. He waited for the coffee to finish brewing and said, "Is Landon okay?" Allie explained and he grabbed the milk for her. He lifted her from the counter making her squeak and said, "Don't want you breaking a leg shorty." She pushed him playfully and he grabbed the drinks to take back to his office. He leaned forward conspiratorially, "Your timing is incredible. You'll never guess what Brian came to tell me." Allie smiled, "What?" Jeremy smiled broadly, "Antonia has said she wants an extra pair of hands on the Aviemore deal and the board have asked me to join the project team to see it through to completion." Allie squealed, "Really? Oh my god that'll be so amazing. Does that mean you'll get to come with us for the finalisation visit to the UK?" Jeremy nodded, "Yeah, apparently Antonia doesn't want to travel. I guess it'll depend on the baby though. If it runs too close to the due date Brian will go instead." Allie grabbed his hand, "Hopefully we're getting close, and even if you don't get to come we'll have you in all the project meetings." Jeremy nodded and said, "Shit, don't let on to Robyn. I've literally only just found out and she might get nervous about me being all the way over there while she's pregnant. I'll have to talk it through with her tonight." Allie drained her cup and moved to hug her friend as he pulled her onto his knee. She said, "Don't worry, I won't say anything. I'll tell Dan but make sure he doesn't either." She sighed, "I'd better go. The office will be wondering where I've got to. Jeremy kissed her as she jumped down and grinned, "Hey, I've always wanted to see you in full on lawyer mode Allie." She laughed, "I'll try not to disappoint."
When she returned to the office Daniel was busy but popped his head around her door between meetings to check everything was okay with Landon. She smiled and got up from her desk to meet him and touched his arm, "Yeah, he's fine. He doesn't need any particular follow up. They just put him on daily low dose aspirin. I saw Jem though. Got something to tell you when we get home." Daniel pulled the door closed behind him to hide them from view and took her face to kiss her, "Tease! Now I'll have to wonder all afternoon what it is. Got to run, need to get to this relationship meeting. See you at home." Allie smiled and nodded as he winked and left.
When the children were in bed she explained her encounter with Antonia and subsequent news about Jeremy joining the project team. Daniel listened with widening eyes, "So Jem doesn't know why she's asked for him to join the team?" Allie shook her head, "He'd have said." He inhaled, "You going to tell him?" She ran her hand along her husband's arm where he'd rolled his shirt sleeves up to clear the dinner things. "No, not my place. It'll come out soon enough. I mean she's got a walking stick and she's stepped down from surgery which I imagine they'll announce by E mail or something. He'll know she's not easing off to spend time learning to knit or something." Daniel threw an arm around her and pulled her to his chest laughing. Allie smiled and relaxed into him as he said, "Jesus Allie, you are so funny. I can't believe she actually had lunch with you, told you about that." Allie ran her hand across his shirt, "Yeah, I think it was a relief to tell someone you know? I doubt she has many friends." He hummed enjoying the closeness, "Well, it'll be good to have Jem there and so much easier if he gets to handle completion with us." Allie nodded and said, "Yeah, depends on Robyn though. He won't come if she's nervous of him being away or it's too close to the due date. Still Brian said he'd do it if that was the case, and he'd be a lot easier to deal with than Antonia so it's a still a bonus for us." She was still moving her hand across Daniel's chest and he said, "God you're driving me wild Allie. He bent to kiss her before flipping their positions so she was under him, skilfully moving the zip down the back of her dress.
