We kept driving on until about 10:15. Pm. I was getting tired so I decided to pull into a hotel. "What are we doing here?" the boy asked
"Well I figured I would rent us a couple rooms." I shrugged. "Oh. You don't have to do that, I can just sleep out-" "No, no, that's all right. I can afford it."
"You sure?" "Yeah, my pleasure."
We got out of the car and started walking up to the Hotel entrance.

"So... I didn't get your name."
"Jake."
"Okay, well nice to meet you Jake."

It felt awkward, weird. Here I was, running away from home, renting a couple hotel rooms for me and this boy I had just met. I wondered if it was safe... obviously not. I didn't care though. YOLO at this point.

"So, what's your name?" he asked.
"Jessica"
"Ok, well, nice to meet you Jessica." he smiled.

We went inside the hotel and walked up to the front desk.
"Hello?" I called.
There was a short woman sitting in a chair behind a counter with a glass window.
"Hello? Ma'am?"
she just stared at the gossip magazine she had in her hands. I looked over at the end of the counter and saw a bell, I rang it but It was stuck. I sighed.
"Ma'am" I raised my voice more.
"How may I help you" she said in an annoyed and tired tone, she kept looking at the magazine. "I would like to rent two rooms, both with a queen-sized bed"
She looked up from her magazine. She looked at me, and then Jake, and after a slight pause, back at the magazine. She grabbed two keys that were hanging on the wall and, still staring at the magazine, she set them on the counter.
"You can stay in room 102 and 103. Payment is due when you leave." She said as she slowly flipped a page in the magazine.
"Okay, thanks." I said. She had no response except a low grunt.

We walked the halls as I looked at all the doors, trying to find our rooms.
"So," Jake paused, "Why did you run away?"
"Well, my parents were assholes and favored my siblings over me. Even though we're rich they neglected me."
"Well, you have a recently made Lambo, that doesn't seem like neglecting to me."
"They only bought that for me to try and prove they cared about me. They don't. Buying someone something isn't a valid way to prove you love someone, I didn't even ask for it, they just bought it for me without giving a second thought about what I actually wanted."
"Wow." he said. "That sucks."
"Yeah... it does." I looked down with a sad expression on my face, missing my younger siblings and thinking about how sad they must be to not be able to see me.
I was then thankfully distracted by the numbers 102 and 103 that were on two doors across the hall from each other.
"Ah, here's our rooms" I said. "You can have 103, I'll have 102." I said.

I gave Jake the key and unlocked my room. I turned around, looked at him and said goodnight. He smiled and went into his room. I had never noticed how attractive he actually was. I mean, how could I when most of the time I was with him he was soaking wet and we were in a dark car. No, that's crazy. I need to stop. I shook my head in disgust at myself and went to bed.

That was the first night I dreamt of Jake.
