"Hi!" Masha said.
"Hey.." I looked at Abby, shocked. "You never told me you had a girlfriend, Abby?" "Yes well.. I was planning on telling you soon but you kinda showed up unexpectedly." she laughed nervously. "How long have you guys been together??" "Uhmm.. 3 years.." she looked down ashamed. "AND YOU DIDNT THINK TO TELL ME? YOUR BEST FRIEND?" I raised my voice and put my hands up in the air. "Ok now.. lets calm down.." Jake put his hand on my arm. Per usual, I blushed, but I said "No offense, but you stay out of this Jake." He backed up and scratched the the back of his head.
"I know I know, I just.. wanted to wait until later, I guess I was kinda just afraid to or something."
I sighed. "It's ok. I understand." I smiled in reassurance." I went over to the couch and sat down next to where Jake was. His arm was behind me on the back of the couch and he slowly moved it onto my shoulder.
"So how did you guys meet?" I asked. "Well remember how I told you I was homeless for a while?" "Yeah.." "Well Masha had just immigrated to the USA so she was also homeless.. I'll let her tell the story of how she immigrated here.. but anyways we became really good friends until eventually we fell in love and started dating. We were together in different homeless shelters almost all our teen years. Until..." she grabbed Mashas hand and smiled. "We were able to get jobs and save up enough for a house." "Well that's great, I'm really happy for you Abby." I smiled and walked over to her and hugged her. Just then I looked up and noticed the clock on the wall. It said 12:27. "Oh shoot it's really late. I should be going to bed." I said. "Really? But we were gonna catch up.." Abby said said sadly. "Yeah, I'm gonna look for a job tomorrow. So I need a good night's rest." "Oh ok! I understand." she smiled.
I turned to Masha, "We'll catch up later, ok?" "Sounds great!" She said in a friendly tone.
I said goodnight to everyone and headed to my room. As I was walking down the hallway, I overheard Abby tossing Jake a blanket and saying "Here, dickface." I turned to her and gave her a stern look as she was walking my way to go to her room. She rolled her eyes and turned around once she saw the look on my face and said "Sorry." I relaxed. As she walked past me she whispered, "Dickface." I rolled my eyes and laughed.I then went to bed.
