Chapter 1 : Hold On

When Pete was a little boy, he saw sorrow. Not the one that his father gave him - that's a tragedy, but the one that rips your heart apart and gives you a hard time to even face the days ahead. That's when his grandfather left him and his grandmother. He felt the sadness, but nothing compared to his grandmother's sorrow. She was so broken and he watched it all, being a living witness of his grandmother's life after that, it hurt Pete too somehow.

His grandmother lost her smile, and her world suddenly became so dark. But her grandmother also loves Pete very much, maybe that's the only reason why she woke up in the morning, cooked Pete's favourite spicy food, and just tried to live. She was trying so hard, she masked every sadness she felt and gave the other the smile that Pete knew never reached her eyes. Maybe that's where Pete learned how to mask his feelings too and became the bubbly person other people name him. His grandmother taught him that.

No need for other people to see your sadness, your sorrow, your weakness.

But one day, he saw his grandmother crying in her bedroom, all alone. His grandmother saw him stood still in the door but she didn't fake her sad expression, she just tell Pete this;

"In this life Pete, I believe there are two things that make humans want to go on in their life. One; dreams, wants, something in the future they want to pursue and two; someone that became so important in your life that you want to live just to see them again, to talk with them, to hug them, to tell them they are so important in your life, to say countlessly that you love them so much." Grandmother stopped for a while and smiled, the smile that Pete liked.

"I pray, you will find those two things in your life, my dear."

Pete found that.

So many years later after that conversation with his grandmother, when he captured and tortured with a man name Vegas Theerapanyakul -his boss enemy.

Life is such a funny thing, there are so many tragedies happening in his life that somehow it feels like his life is becoming a comedy in his own way. It still feels so funny even to him, how he really fell in love with Vegas. Not the kind of love that he believes will disappear one day if he decides he doesn't want that kind of feeling again. Not some infatuations from a very good and mindblowing sex or just crushing a handsome man.

He falls so hard, he can give all of himself just to be with Vegas again, he himself too doesn't know what to do with this feeling. It's the first time he experienced it.

In his time with Vegas in the safe house, it's not a good one to remember he could say. But if he can turn back time and choose, he will still do the same. He will ask Kinn to send him to minor family house to search for the fraud evidences and the hole in his bodyguards that sell information to minor family - to save Porsche, he will get tortured again, he will be treated nothing but a pet again to Vegas. He will endure it all.

Just to meet Vegas.

The real him.

To meet his broken heart and soul, to meet his sorrow, to meet his anger, his rampant, his tears, all his weakness, and to meet the human side of Vegas. The human side that made Pete believes more that in this world there is nothing that all good and all bad, no heroes nor the villains. We are just human, trying to live and survive in our own way.

Pete never wants to fix Vegas, he's not that different from that guy. He also has a broken heart and soul, just like Vegas, in his life he also tries to manipulate other people with his kind smile and bubbly personality. He wants others to believe he has that kind of persona, so they can't see how broken and messy his real self is. He just wants to protect himself.
