Chapter 8 : Die First

Have you ever heard that someone who commit suicide, their soul won’t get to any places in the afterlife? Their soul can’t go neither to heaven nor to hell? As the biggest punishment for someone that chooses to end their own life, their soul will be stuck in this world for an eternity? They will witness their loved ones’ life day by day, they watch their growth, their stories, their happy moments, and also… their misery and their death.

I heard about this once.

I also heard that someone who commit suicide, can’t reincarnate .

They can’t reincarnate to something else in the next life and meet again with their loved ones.

Vegas’ mind goes blank. He really doesn’t feel anything right now, he just feels.. numb.

His body goes auto-pilot, he shots people that wear main family badges on their suit and its main family members itself. He tries to kill Kinn (and Porsche) as he always designed for from birth. He hates Kinn, he still loathes him so much. Somehow he still believes that all of his misery comes from that man. But something changes…

He feels tired to face him.

Usually, it lights something deep inside him when he can beat that man, when he faces Kinn as something equal . But he doesn’t know why, today he just feels tired. It doesn’t excite him anymore. 

He just wants this over so he can go back to his Pete even though that man only saw his reality with Vegas in it as a dream only. Something so fragile, something that won’t last long, Vegas knew it. But still, he wants to live in that lie as long as he can. Because it brings him happiness and a new purpose in life. As simply as that.

But that happiness and his new purpose in life are gone when he sees Pete standing in front of him, right after main family members beat him and his minor family bodyguards with some explosive powder in the basement.

“Pete can’t hear something too loudly. He will be freaking out. He will have a panic attack that makes it hard to breathe. I’m afraid he can’t go back to his job as a bodyguard.”

Vegas suddenly remembers what Porsche said to him before about Pete’s PTSD.

“He got traumatized by the gunshot's voice.”

As someone that is traumatized by a gunshot, holding a gun in front of him in the middle of a battlefield between major and minor family members. Vegas only can think one solid reason why Pete does all of this.

He wants to kill Vegas.

He loathes Vegas so much he can’t miss a chance to kill him.

Yes, what they did not so long ago, only roughly 8 hours ago, their little date was only an imagination . The real Pete wouldn’t do that, the real Pete will try to kill him because he can’t stand living in the same world with the man he hates so much. That’s why he is in front of him right now, pointing his gun at him.

He battles his own trauma just to kill Vegas.

Why should Vegas live in this world? For what reason?

Pete’s face is also so pale, just like what he sees on the first night he visited him. Vegas doesn’t have a heart to see Pete like this so he just drops his gun. His heart sinks, his whole existence feels like fading.

“Kill me, Pete. Just kill me, it will make you feel better.” Vegas says while smiling to Pete. At least he can do something to make Pete feel better.
