Chapter 9 : Mother (Special Chapter)

"Mother.."

"Yes, son?"

"You said that you watched my life all this time, that means you saw every bad side of mine and the stories of my life. It's so ugly. I'm sorry you need to see your oldest son to become someone like this."

"Vegas, you know what my biggest resentment in my life is?"

"Your marriage with father?"

"No, I never thought it was a mistake, because if i didn't marry your father i wouldn't have you and Macau."

"So, what is it? What's your biggest mistake that can beat the decision of marrying the worst person like my father?"

"I didn't fight for life. I gave up on it. I'm sorry to not choose you and Macau above my own problems. I'm sorry that I left you alone when I know your father can't raise you and he is himself not the best person I have ever known."

"It's okay.."

"No, it's not. I deserve every punishment this world can give. You made your mistakes, I'm not gonna justify that. But I'm not in a place where I can judge you because I couldn't be by your side in your darkest days. I couldn't be someone you can rely on, a shoulder to cry on, and a home to come back. Maybe if I am still alive and show you how much loved you are, if I could show you that you are not alone, you won't turn into this kind of person."

"I'm not gonna lie, but yes mother... there was a time when i wanna scream that i really need you by my side.."

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry.. I took a part to ruin your and Macau's life. Can you forgive me, Vegas?"

"I never blame you, mother. There is nothing to forgive for."

"You are a nice person, Vegas. You are a good person if you stop trying to show the image your father wants you to show to people. Kindness is not a weakness . I'm so thankful that Pete came into your life and brought back this soft and loving side of you."

"But I hurt him so badly."

"And yet he understands you and accepts you. He's way better than me, he chose you despite everything. He saw the real you, not the image you always create to deceive people. I really love that kid, he's really a good person."

"He is. There is nothing in this world that can replace him."

"So what's your plan? This is the last chance for both of you. You know how it will end."

"I know someone must be dead, but this time i wanna fight together with him. This is our fight , I'm not gonna be the only one who is fighting for us. Pete's mistakes in his past two chances were... he did not let me understand fully and fought together by his side. If we're gonna be doomed at the end, if we're gonna lose, then we can lose together."

"In a short time, Pete could change you into a better person."

"No, mother. Pete didn't change me, he didn't have a responsibility to fix me. To fix the broken Vegas. No . It's up to me to decide for myself. I wanna change myself for him ."

"You are right, son."

"Mother, thank you."

"For what?"

"You made your own mistake like all human beings are. But thank you for always watching me, thank you for making these crazy things possible, thank you for giving me and Pete chances to be happy together. Thank you for showing me, even though you are no longer in this world with me, your love is still with me in every step I take. I hope Macau knows this too."

"I will always love you and Macau, in every breath you take please remember that I always love you both so much. Please take care of Macau, he's someone who needs love as much as you are. Please don't let him think he is alone in this world."

"I almost left him alone if you didn't show up and showed me everything."

"I tried to save both of my sons' lives, you know? I know the way to save Macau's life is to save you first."

"Mother..."

"Yes?"

"Thank you for everything."

"And thank you for being strong until this long, Vegas, death is so final but life is full of possibilities. Thank you for choosing life even though I know it is so hard. Everyday you wake up in the morning, I thank God that my son is still trying to fight for his life. Everyone will be dead someday, you watched yours but I hope you can fight as long as life allows you to be. That's my only prayer for both of you and Macau. Please, don't be like me. Vegas..."

"Hmm?"

"Thank you for allowing me to become your mother and thank you for being born to be my son. I'm sorry you have someone weak like me as your mother."

"No, even in the next life if we have one, I will still choose you as my mother. Mother, don't cry..."
