I woke up, I watered my plants, one by one. I brushed my teeth, took a quick shower, changed and sat silently in the living room. POLLY wasn't home. I took a random book from the bookshelf, it was called "How to raise a plant and make it love you back." I found it funny, but I knew the book by heart, I had read it multiple times. I read it to distract me from the memories, the ones that consisted of faces of horror, disgust and aggravation.
I heard a knock on the door and stood up immediately but swiftly. I walked to the door and slightly opened it "Hi POLLY! I'm sorry, I just want to be a little more cautious."
"BASIL...Did you just call me your babysitter?" even from the barely visible body of AUBREY, I saw her eyes (or perhaps eye contacts) staring back at me.
"Oh! Sorry, sorry. I thought you were POLLY. She's not my babysitter. Do you need anything?" I opened the door wider.
"No, pfft. Nothing's interesting, that's why. You're one of the least mentally ill. You're more mentally ill than MARI though, considering she's dead."
"Well-...If you didn't have a reason to come here, are you hungry? Is your mother better?"
"No, I'm not hungry. Why'd you want to know anyway? Also, are you asking about my mom cause you don't have one? My mom's the same, though."
"Answer the main question, why are you here?"
"Cause-...I thought that POLLY was here. But since, she's not here, I suppose I'll leave." AUBREY turned around smoothly and started walking away.
"Wait! Since you're not busy, do you want to hang out with me? We can do like, fun things."
"Oh, right. FUN THINGS. Talking about plants and acting CANADIAN."
"Wh-...What do you mean acting Canadian? AUBREY, I AM Canadian."
"...Fine, I'll hang out with your boring activities. 'S like we're on a boring field trip again..."
"That field trip WASN'T boring! It was fun, you just had to stay next to the teachers cause you tried to steal a bun-"
"I SAID I'LL HANG OUT WITH YOU ALREADY. Come on, shoes on, and outside you go." AUBREY gestured for me to start moving, and quickly.
"Oh..Yes." I put on my shoes and put the keys in my pockets before getting out the house and locking the door.
"Oh and. Did you know that you got a letter?" AUBREY hands me a letter, decorated with flower stickers.
"A letter, for me? How sweet of them. How about we open it while we walk?" I walked on the pavement, looking down and wondering about the letter.
"I'm honestly surprised you get letters." She chewed on some gum, unknown if it has a scent or if it had a taste.
"Also. Did you look at my mail? 'Hope you didn't check through EVERYTHING."
"I in fact did. Very much boring, you still get mail? I'd think you were starting to go on the internet, like the smarty-pants about plants you are."
"AUBREY, you know that's private." I kicked a rock gently and it went on the road.
"So what? Can I keep the newspapers, at least? I saw one that had a cool cover, that's it. Also, how about 'cha start reading that damn letter?"
"Oh right! One quick second." I gently opened the letter as AUBREY leaned over my shoulder to read it with me.
"Wow, such boring names."
"AUBREY! Nevermind. Our dear little sprout. We are terribly sorry for barely seeing you, we are glad that POLLY has been taking care of you very well, we love you very much as you are our one and only son. Your mother and I wish to see you and hug you lots, but unfortunately due to work, we cannot see you. Biggest hug from OLIVER and CAMELLIA or more known as your father and mother."
