HARRY'S P.O.V

"We finally got him stable and so far there are no further complications so the operation should be finished soon. It's best if you go home and get some sleep, you can't do anything at this point right now. He's been put in an artificial coma. It could be hours or days until he wakes up, it depends. But we'll let you know as soon as something changes." With that he left us alone because he had to go back inside.

"I'm not going anywhere." I was the first to speak up.

"Harry you can't-" My mum started but I just shook my head.

"I. Won't. Go. Anywhere." I gritted out with dark eyes glaring at her. Never in a million years would I leave Louis alone here now, I couldn't give two shits if I couldn't do anything, but I wouldn't leave his side.

"I'm staying with you." Jay said immediately.

"No. You need to rest. I'm staying here. I will call you when we know more." Mark contradicted and Jay nodded weakly. She wanted to stay so badly, but she had to take care of her other children and after all she had just recovered from her own illness and she needed to rest because she was still quite weak.

"Please take care of him." My mum begged and Mark nodded.

"I will. I'll call you." He assured.

After long and tear-filled hugs my mum and Jay left with the boys and Lottie, leaving Mark and I alone. At some point he got up and grabbed two coffees from the canteen handing me one.

"I didn't know how you like it. I put a little milk in it." He smiled slightly.

"Thank you, Sir." I mumbled, taking the coffee gratefully. I wiped my tired eyes before taking a sip of the hot liquid.

"Please call me Mark." Louis' dad said and I gave a small smile and nodded. "He's going to be fine, Harry. He's a Tomlinson after all. We don't give up so easily." He nudged me assuring.

"That's what he had told me several times." I chuckled at the memories when Louis acted all tough.

"It's a shame we have to meet like this." Mark said frowning now staring at the cup in his hands.

"I'm sorry." I said and Mark's head snapped back up and he looked at me confused.

"Why are you sorry?" He asked puzzled.

"Because I didn't introduce myself properly." I shrugged my shoulders and Mark chuckled.

"I understand, I really do. Your relationship is not exactly easy to deal with and definitely not easy to explain to your parents." He said.

"Yeah..." I felt slightly uncomfortable because I didn't know what Mark thought of me and how he had reacted in the first place when he had found out that his son was dating his student. Mark seemed to sense my struggle as he studied my features.

"You know, I don't judge you for that. At first I was a little shocked, but my wife explained everything to me and you should know one thing about our family, Harry, we aren't ones to judge people and especially not our own family members. I just want my children to be happy and judging by the fact that you stay here even when you can't do anything nor see him, tells me that you must really love my son and that is all that matters." He explained smiling and to my surprise tears welled up in my eyes again, but this time because of his moving words.

"I truly love him and when he wakes up I make sure I always remind him of that." I promised and he nodded at me smiling proudly.

Mark and I fell asleep on the chairs in front of the ICU where Louis was laying by now and were woken up by a nurse when it dawned. At first I didn't know where I was or what had happened, but then I remembered and shot up in my seat looking around frantically.
