12 YEARS LATER

Louis stared out of the huge window to his right, his gaze was fixated on a squirrel that was just climbing up the big tree on the lawn. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the birds were chirping, just as it had to be at the end of June. It was quite warm outside, Louis had noticed it when he had opened the window to let fresh air into the room, but after ten minutes he hurried to close it and instead turned on the air conditioning. The heat was killing him and it didn't help that he was wearing a black button up that clung to his skin.

Sighing, he leaned over the stack of papers and massaged his temples with his index and middle fingers. "Alright. Time to get this done, then you can go home." Louis muttered to himself as he glanced at his watch. It was two in the afternoon, he just had to survive another hour.

He was already planning the teacher deployments for next year so he didn't have as much stress during the summer holidays. He wanted to relax on the Maldives and not have to worry or even think about his work.

He was halfway through when there was a knock on the door. He was about to bang his head on the table, but he clenched his jaw and inhaled and exhaled deeply through his nose a couple of times. Today was a day where he couldn't get anything productive done and it didn't help now that he was being disturbed, but he couldn't just ignore it.

"Come in." He called to the person on the other side of the door.

It opened and Mrs. Carols entered the room angrily with a deep red head. Behind her stood Jonah with his head down, not meeting Louis' eyes. Louis closed his eyes for a second and sighed deeply.

"He put thumbtacks on my chair! Thumbtacks! This is not acceptable!" Mrs. Carols exclaimed angrily.

"You didn't even sit down, it wasn't that bad." Jonah huffed.

"Be quiet Jonah, and sit down." Louis said sternly and pointed to the chair in front of his desk. "Thanks, Tina. I take care of it." He smiled slightly at her.

"I hope he receives a proper punishment." She arched an eyebrow.

"Oh, he will. Trust me." Louis said and she nodded before leaving the room.

"But, dad-" Jonah exclaimed.

"-I said sit down and shut up!" Louis snapped.

Jonah sat down without another word and crossed his arms over his chest childishly. Louis leaned back in his chair spinning the pen in his hand as he studied his twelve year old son with precision. Jonah resisted the urge to squirm under Louis' stare, he knew he could get really angry especially now because it wasn't the first time Jonah sat in this exact spot. It seemed like an eternity until Louis spoke up after just glaring at him.

"Care to explain why you're sitting here now for the third time this month?" He asked without any expression. Jonah just shrugged his shoulders without looking up. "I'm talking to you! Look at me and give me a proper answer!" Louis snapped now louder and Jonah flinched, but looked up anyway. Louis pressed his lips into a tight line and tilted his head waiting for an answer.

"I don't know." He mumbled intimidated.

"Don't you dare lying to me. Why did you do that?" Jonah sighed deeply, there was no way in lying or trying to argue. He knew he was already in deep shit and didn't really want to make things worse.

"Because of a girl." Jonah whispered in defeat.

"Because of what?" Louis raised his eyebrows in disbelief as he sat up straight in his chair. "Okay, explain this to me, because I don't understand."

"W-well last time when I did this prank on Mr. Thomas- you know when I put the whoopie cushion on his chair-" Jonah began slowly.

"I remember. Continue." Louis said sternly.
