one fun fact about me is that i absolutely hate birthdays. i hate the fact that everything's centered around me. i hate the fact that you celebrate the day you were born on. i hate the fact that i have no clue what to do when everyone sings happy birthday and i'm sitting there like an idiot. i hate the fact that i don't know how to accept gifts without being completely awkward.
i hate it all.
my birthday is in 2 days, and i'm overthinking what i'm going to do when people say happy birthday to me, how i'm going to reply and what i'm going to do if i accidentally open up the present they give me before reading the card.
"what are you going to wear when we go out for dinner?" Abby asks me, rummaging through the last couple items of clothing left in her suitcase, "i have no clue, i might go shopping later" i shrug my shoulders, falling back on the cushiony mattress dramatically.
"good idea, mason might be able to go with y~" She starts before immediately realising what she said, "MASONS COMING?" i practically scream out of confusion, happiness, stress and anger. the only reason i'm screaming out of anger is because that's the answer to all my questions about mason not replying to any of my messages.
"what? pftt, no!" Abby tries to play it off, acting like she didn't just spoil the biggest surprise of my life.
"Abby you have 3 seconds to tell me when he's arriving here or else i'm chasing you out of this hotel room" i say calmly, crossing my arms.
"no" she replies sternly, "1,"

i don't even give her a chance to start running away before i start chasing her around the room. "bye!" she exclaims, giving me a tight lipped smile before running to the door. "get your ass back here abby james witherspoon" i yell, chasing her out of the room and through the halls.
"you're not gonna catch me!" she whisper shouts as i run behind her, "yes i wi~" i get cut off the second i run into someone.
"i'm so sorry, i shouldn't have been running in the hallway"
"tils?" i look up to see that the person i ran into was actually mason. thank god
"that scared me so much, what if you were like the next jeffery dahmer and i ran into you." i take a second to pause and look down at his hands, "you got me flowers?" i say out of breathe, wiping the hair away from my forehead.
"why are you not surprised that i'm here?" he asks, questioning me with a smile on his face, "funny story actually!" i exclaim, waving my arms everywhere, "abby actually accidentally told me that you were coming because i said that i was going to go shopping to find something to wear to dinner and she said that you could go shopping with me, and i practically screamed at her for not telling me you were coming." i ramble on, still shocked that he's in front of me.
"give me a second" i raise my hand, taking him not to talk as i just take in all of his features. "your hairs longer" i notice, moving my hand up to his hair and messing around with it.
"i don't think it is" mason blushes, looking down at me, "your hairs definitely shorter" he gestures to my hair which i recently got cut.
there's a small moment of silence before i speak up again. "this is so awkward" i shake my head before wrapping my arms around masons shoulders. his arms eventually snake their way around my back.
i've missed this feeling.
"YOU ARE SUCH A LIAR MATILDA PRAVONG" I hear Abby shout from the end of the hallway, taking out her phone and taking a picture of the two of us, "i'm sending this to shay"
