Nedzu's POV:
'Fascinating.' Not many people were able to make quirk-mimicry tech, yet this child had managed to make it within three hours. To make it better, it couldn't just mimic one quirk, it could mimic multiple. Taking a look at the written portion of the exam solidified what Nedzu had previously been thinking. 'This child is a genius.'
There was just one concern Nedzu had at that point. Why did it smell like blood the moment that child walked in? There were only two possibilities. Either the kid had hurt somebody before the exam, or the more likely reason, the child himself was hurt. At first glance you'd think that it was the former. With the amount of tech knowledge the kid had it wouldn't have been too far of a stretch to say that the kid used some tech against someone.
After observing the child through the whole presentation though, Nedzu was now certain it was the latter. The poor kid was far too skittish to be the type to attack anyone. That left only one option. Somebody was hurting his student. He wouldn't stand for it.
Suddenly Nedzu's phone rang, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Ah, Naomasa, I was just about to call you! What do you need detective?"
"I have a case I need your help with. It's a delicate situation, one wrong move could ruin everything." The detective tiredly explains.
"Oh, do tell. It sounds interesting."
"A few months ago Yagi called me telling me about this kid he found on Dagobah beach. Said it seemed like the kid was abused, but all he could give me was a physical description of the kid and a family name. Then, a couple weeks ago Kirishima told me that the child she wanted me to find and help was the very same kid that Yagi found. I've been doing my best to gather evidence, but there's only so much I can do without the mother noticing."
"I'll see what I can do. Send me everything you've got for the case now. What's the kid's name?"
"The kid's name is Izuku Midoriya," The detective says. "Oh yeah, when I called you said you were about to call me. What did you need me for?"
"I was gonna ask you to start a case for my new student, but it seems I don't need to."
"Don't need to? Why...?"
"Well, it seems Yagi and Kirishima beat me to it. You see, I just met Midoriya today, he applied for the support course here. I had deduced that he had most likely been injured recently, and going off how strong the scent was I am certain that his injuries currently are not mere scrapes."
Izuku's POV:
I spent the first week after the exam feeling full of anxious anticipation. I checked the mail daily hoping to find the results, but had no luck. After another week and a half of nothing, I started to suspect the worst. That I had failed. I gave up on checking the mail after that, sure that I wouldn't be getting anything. It was a horrible choice.
"Izuku!" Mom screeched. "Why is there a letter from UA in my mailbox!? Is this why you were checking the mail so often?"
I stare at my mother. In her hand, clear as day, is a letter from UA, probably telling me I failed.
"Well, open it," She says, throwing the letter at me.
I don't even bother trying to leave, knowing she'd stop me. I just resign myself to my fate and open the envelope. Out of it falls a miniature projector. Upon contact with the table it starts to play. Powerloader walked onto the screen and started to speak.
"Hello Midoriya, I'm here to give you your exam results. Normally I wouldn't be the one doing this, but you've earned it kid. Your design was able to earn you hundreds of points more than second place, and thousands more than the majority of the rest. Not only that, but you scored 114% on the written portion of the exam. You have not only secured a spot in the support course, but also piqued Nedzu's interest. Nedzu wishes to meet with you the day before the school year starts." Then, under his breath, he continues. "God help us all."
"Your uniform should have also arrived, and if it hasn't then it'll be there in a day or two. Your schedule and class information are included in the envelope this was sent in. If you have any questions please email, the contact information is included in the envelope and on our website. Izuku Midoriya, welcome to your support accademia." With that, the feed cuts out. I stare at where it had been projected, still processing.
"You applied for UA!?" Oh, she was furious.
I should probably run. I feel the tell-tale burn of mother's quirk pulling off my skin. It's already too late. Running now would only make it worse. It's better to wait it out, then maybe I'll still be able to attend the meeting. School starts in a week. If I anger mother any more than she already is I doubt I'll be able to do much of anything. And that's if she doesn't kill me now...
Sorry that this chapter is a bit short. I knew exactly how I wanted this chapter to end so it was hard to try and stuff more into it. Hopefully, I will have time to write the next chapter soon, while what I want to do next is still fresh in my mind. I don't think this story is gonna be too much longer, but we'll see...
