Chapter 49 | TBHG
I realized that my life was so fast that it almost looked like it was timelapse. I leaned my back on the backrest as my eyes fluttered shut. How I wish that everything went back before. I am still in his car but he was driving somewhere and I don't have any idea where he was taking me.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked.
"To the place when it all started," he answered. His face was so serious as he drove calmly. "I want you to remember from the start."
"I don't understand..."
"You wouldn't remember because you were heavily drunk. How will you remember me?"
My eyes squinted. "All right. Take me there and I'll try to remember."
He didn't speak. He just let out a heavy breath.
Until we arrived at the familiar pub I used to drink when I was young. I heard the screeching when he stepped on the brake.
He evaded his eyes from me but he was still being kind and gentleman. I gave him a sheepish smile as I start to hop out from his car.
"You go first," he urged.
He smiled. "Good day! What's your order?"
"Martini, please," I ordered.
"Martini coming right up!"
He turned his back to prepare my drinks. Until Damien went inside the pub with a grim expression on his face.
"A whole bottle of bourbon," his voice was deep and stern. His eyes shot at me. "What happened to you?"
I chewed my lips. "Ako ba ang kausap mo?"
"I am the only person beside you..." "You were so young and you were soaking wet because of heavy rain. Your eyes are bloodshot and you look like you really need someone to talk to."
"Then what happened?" I probed.
His adam's apple bobbled up and down. "You told me that shit happened to your life and I listened to you."
"I told you about my mother, wasn't it?"
I downed the whole glass of martini. Fuck.
"You were actually surprised when I told you I own a hospital. And..." he trailed off. "I really thought at that time you were my soulmate."
My eyebrow pinched together. "You believe in soulmates?"
"Uh... yeah. I don't believe in love 'cause I lose hope because of my parent's toxic relationship. Not until I met you, Sianna."
I felt butterflies flying in my stomach. My heart was beating in a euphoric rhythm. My cheeks slowly burned, which is why I gazed away. Goddamn it. It feels so good to hear that line from him.
