Friday.
Hikori had just left the Nurses office but had his hands stuffed into the pockets of his pants. He had asked his Aunty to tell his sensei that he was going to see Deku. He made it to the office, opened the door and knocked. Infrared turned towards him and wandered over.
"Hey, Kaminari!" They smiled. "What can I do for you?"
"I was wondering if it was possible to talk to Deku-sensei...?" He questioned quietly.
"Of course! He's in his office so follow me."
They lead him to Deku's office and opened the door with a knock. Deku looked up from the paperwork he was reading and smiled when he saw his two visitors. Infrared patted Hikori on the head and left, closing the door.
"What can I do for you, Kaminari?"
"I just wanted to talk to you about something..."
"Of course! Take a seat."
"I just want to know;" Hikori continued as he sat down. "How to hide these."
Hikori held up his gloves hands so Deku could get a good view of the Lightning scars that disappeared behind the material and danced down his forearms. Little did the boy know, was that Deku's blank stare was the look of someone experiencing flashbacks...
[DEKU'S FLASHBACK;
Electricity danced along the surface of the lake...
"GET BACK! NO ONE GO NEAR THE WATER!" ordered Vlad King with urgency.
"He's not surfacing!" Mina cried.
"And there's blood, too!" Uraraka screamed.
When the electricity disappeared, Asui jumped in to grab him.
Back on shore, Asui laid down Denki's limp body. The class were shocked and scared, and not just because of the bloody patterns on his body, but because he wasn't responding....
Aizawa started chest compressions and mouth to mouth. After a minute passed, Denki started to cough up water....
FLASHBACK OVER]
"...Ensei...?! Sensei!" Hikori had been calling his name for about 3 minutes.
"Huh...?! Sorry, Kaminari." Deku shook his head, stood up and wandered over so he could crouch by Hikori's side. "Look; there should be no reason to hide your scars. Sure they don't look that great and it reminds you of why it caused them in the first place, but they also symbolise how strong you have been." Deku removed one of his white gloves, revealing his own scarred hand. "My scars tell the story of how much struggles I went through to control my quirk and to get to where I am today. I wasn't too happy about them at first but I soon came to accept that they're apart of me."
"But... What I did was stupid..."
"How is trying to save a friend a stupid reason for your scars? Here." Deku removed one of Hikori's fingerless gloves and held his small hand in his own, larger, hand. "Your scars are just like your father's. Denki has these scars all over his body; chest, arms, legs, back and neck. His were caused from trauma, flashbacks and overwhelming anxiety. But they look the same as yours nonetheless. Has he ever been self-conscious about his?"
"Not that I can recall..."
"Kaminari. All I'm saying is that, you have to embrace them...! Sure you might want to hide, cover them up and refuse to talk about them, but, all the greatest heroes have scars to show. Stories to tell. You'll find comfort in them soon enough. Trust me. And that's coming from someone who would break his bones everytime he used his quirk."
Hikori looked at his hand then back at Deku's. The scars were different, yes but... They had similar reasons. They both got scars to save people.
"I used to have scars like this on my hands." Hikori began, looking his teacher in the eyes. "But they eventually faded to nothing. I guess I'm just really noticing that these won't. That they'll be visible forever..."
"I know. I use to cover mine with long sleeves and gloves. Shoto tried to cover up his burn with concealer when we had our graduation but I refused to let him. I told him that his scar makes him special and unique. Just like mine and yours."
"... Would Kirishima's hearing loss be a scar...?"
"More or less; yes. But her's are less visible as they're damaged inside rather than out."
"... Thanks, Sensei... This really helped."
"I'm glad. Now. You should head back to class."
Hikori nodded and left, after saying goodbye, and headed to class. Once he returned, he found his class having a free period so he wandered over to Irei's desk.
"Hey, Hikori..!" Irei smiled. "I have something I want to show you!"
"What is it?" Hikori questioned as he stood by his boyfriend's desk.
He watched as he started to undo his tie and top two buttons of his shirt, as his blazer was over the back of his chair, and he rubbed at his neck; make-up coming off on his fingers. The candy-cane haired boy then tilted his head back slightly to expose his throat. Hikori just stared. On his boyfriend's neck was a burn mark in the shape of fingers.
"Wha-?! What happened?! How did you get that?!" Hikori gasped.
"From preschool. Remember when our class was attacked?" Hikori nodded. "I was taken hostage and a villain used their quirk on me, and that was before I got my quirk and my throat became immune to fire."
"Then how come I've never noticed it before and why haven't you ever told me?!"
"I was self-conscious about it and didn't want to be reminded of the day I was almost killed, not to mention a similar event happened that caused us to all be separated."
"Then why are you showing me this now?"
"Because I saw how upset and self-conscious you became with your hands. I wanted you to know you weren't alone..."
"... Thanks, Irei."
"No problem."
Hikori placed a peck on Irei's lips before the bell went and the class had to sit down as Mina started the next lesson.
