Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Trial of Life

Part 6: First Dungeon (pt. 2)

Author's note: This chapter has a teeny bit of gore. Only a pinch.

They both keep fighting random Pokémon.
Eevee checks the wristband.
"Eevee. Health: 27/61. Level: 8."

Poochyena runs back to Eevee, who is slowly losing consciousness.
"I found stair!" Poochyena says, tail wagging.
Eevee smiles and follows Poochyena as they show him the stairs.

They descend and hear voices.
"Are we sure he's in here? We've been searching forever." Someone says.
"Yes. Apparently someone saw him go in here and didn't warn them." Someone else says.

"Is that rescue team from before?" Poochyena asks.
"Pr-probably" Eevee says, almost tripping as they continue walking.
They find more stairs and descend.

Another wild Pokémon jumps in front of them, growling.
Eevee prepares to fight again, until a Politoed knocks them out.
"Are you guys okay?" He says.

Politoed looks as Eevee and panics.
"Oh gosh." He keeps repeating as he grabs his bag and takes out a Pecha and Oran berry.
Poochyena turns to look at Eevee and realizes that they're poisoned.

Eevee lays down and checks the wristband as Politoed gives him the berries.
"Eevee. Health: 12/61. Level: 8."
He eats the berries and gets back up, feeling better.

"Eevee! You should told me that poisoned!" Poochyena says running over and play-tackling them.
"Sorry." Eevee says.
Politoed giggles as he walks over to them.

"So, what're you two doing all the way down here?" He says.
Eevee looks at him and pushes Poochyena off of him.
"Are you Politoed?" He asks.

Politoed nods.
"We're looking for you!" Eevee says.
"Oh," Politoed replies, "Why though?"

"People are worried about you!" Eevee says.
Politoed smiles and grabs his bag.
"Okay, can we first go find my scarf? I kinda lost it here." He says.

"Gladly-" Eevee begins to say.
"There's Politoed!" Someone says.
Everyone turns to the voice.

It's the rescue team from earlier.
"Oh no! He's being attacked!" A Pachirisu says.
Eevee and Poochyena look to each other.

"Guys they aren't-" Politoed starts, but a Cubone grabs him.
"Wait," A Schythor says, "Aren't those two the outlaws from the village?"
"They are!" A Venonat yells.

Eevee and Poochyena both start to back up.
"Please! They weren't attacking-" Politoed tries to say, but a blue beam surrounds him.
The beam disappears with Politoed gone.

"Now that he's safe," The Scythor says, "It's time to deal with these outlaws."
The rescue team quickly surround Poochyena and Eevee.
"Please, we are not doing wrong." Poochyena says.

Eevee uses the wristband on the Cubone.
"Cubone. Health: 64/64. Level: 12."
Eevee quickly uses it on everyone else.

"Pachirisu. Health: 79/79. Level: 16."
"Venonat. Health: 67/84. Level: 17."
"Scythor. Health 94/94. Level 22."

"This isn't good." Eevee says to himself.
Both Poochyena and Eevee look around.
Poochyena reaches for the bag, but a Phsybeam from Venonat sends it flying into the hall they came from.

"Good call." Cubone says.
"I don't think there's a way out of here without fighting." Eevee tells Poochyena.
Poochyena shutters in response.

Eevee's head starts to hurt again.
A vague memory of something like this appears in his head.
Something with a Piplup and a Charizard?

Eevee's head feels like it explodes as he remembers everything.
A sudden anger floods over him.
A bone hits the back of Eevee's head.

"Are you listening over there cra-" Cubone says before getting tackled by Eevee.
Cubone yells in surprise and Scythor grabs Eevee and throws them across the cave.
Before hitting the wall, Eevee grabs Pachirisu, who was about to tackle Poochyena, and uses them to soften the blow.
