Trust Issues... AU Miraculous FanFiction

Chapter 3

I transformed and immediately and received Cat Noir's voicemail. "We've got a new villain to deal with M'lady and I'm not talking about Reflekta or Truth. Meet me at the Montparnasse Tower." 

"The Montparnasse Tower?" I muttered as I raced across buildings trying to get a hold of Alya. Thankfully she answered.

"Hey, Marinette. What's..." she started.

"No time for chitchat. I need Rena Furtive near the Montparnasse Tower, now!" I cut her off as I got closer to the building.

"On it. I'll be there." She answered as she hung up. 

"I hope Cat Noir doesn't do anything crazy." I told myself as I looked at the roof of the tower. Cat Noir was trying to fight that thing on his own, I sighed as I managed to swing to the top. Landing next to my loyal partner, he smiled. 

"Welcome to the party, Bugaboo." Cat Noir greeted as I wrapped up the villain in my yo-yo. 

"I told you not to call me Bugaboo!" I snapped as the villain cleared his throat.

"I am Psychic. This is touching and all but this relationship is not at all what I thought it would be." He said as the spiral started rotating. "I thought that you guys would trust each other more."

As he spoke, I started having doubts about how much I actually trusted my partner and my yo-yo unwound around him. The times I didn't trust Cat Noir immediately popped back into my head. He's right. I thought.

"Ladybug, snap out of it!" Cat Noir yelled as he smacked Psychic's legs with his staff, making him stumble. I shook my head, coming out of the daze. "That's his power. When he talks about a friendship, he makes those friends doubt themselves about how much they actually trust each other." He explained as I looked at Psychic.

Where is the akuma? I thought as I finally saw a medallion around his neck. It looked similar to the spiral on his head.

"Why should you believe this mangy feline?" Psychic questioned.

"Because he's my partner and I trust him." I snapped as I made a grab for the medallion. He jumped out of the way making me stumble with the extra momentum. "Looks like it's time for my... LUCKY CHARM!!!" I yelled as a replica of my yo-yo fell into my hands. You've got to be kidding me. I thought as I examined it. "What the heck am I meant to do with this?!"

                   15 minutes earlier...

Alya's POV:

As school let out, I walked home with Nino. "What are we doing tonight, Nino?" I asked as I held his hand.

"I dunno, dudette. What about a movie night?" He suggested as I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

"Hold on a second, Nino." I told him as I pulled out my phone. A call for Marinette and an akuma alert. Uh-oh! Look like we need Rena Furtive. I answered it and kept walking. Keep it normal. I told myself "Hey, Marinette. What's..."

"No time for chitchat. I need Rena Furtive near the Montparnasse Tower, now!" She interrupted as she informed me.

"On it. I'll be there." I assured her as I hung up. Now I need an excuse to go there. I thought as I racked my brain.

"Everything okay, Alya?" Nino asked.

"Yeah, Marinette needs to talk to me for a while so I'm gonna head over to her place." I lied. No one knew Ladybug's true identity apart from me and that's how it's got to be.

"Alright, I'll see you later then..." Nino said as I kissed him on the cheek, making him blush slightly.

"Bye, Nino!" I called as I raced in the other direction. Once Nino was out of sight, I ducked into an alleyway.

"Wow. Way to ditch your boyfriend." Trixx noted as he flew out of my bag.

"Can it, Trixx. I didn't want to ditch him, but Ladybug needs us." I snapped. "Trixx, lets pounce!" I commanded as my blue camouflage costume appeared. I stealthily made my way close to the Montparnasse Tower. No-one know's that I'm still active because I made ShadowMoth think  that Ladybug took back my miraculous. Stick to the shadows. I told myself, racing as fast as I could.

I made it to the top of one of the nearby buildings and kept watch. Ladybug arrived at the Montparnasse Tower shortly after I started surveillance. I had to be ready incase they need me, but do it discreetly otherwise my cover's blown and ShadowMoth will find out. I kept watch for a while until something felt wrong. I was about to get closer until I heard Cat Noir yell "Ladybug!"

Dread filled my body. What went wrong! I thought.  "Cat Noir, don't move." I instructed over the radio as I called for a mirage. I needed to keep the news team and the supervillain away from the tower. I focused on the illusion I wanted to make and had Cat Noir lead the thing away. Thankfully, everyone bought it. I leaped up to the top of the building landing next to Cat Noir, who was cradling Ladybug's head in his lap.
