Chapter 10

3 weeks ago...

Cat Noir lunged at Psychic with his cataclysm. Psychic dodged to the side as I saw Cat Noir Racing forward blindly, his eyes screwed shut. 

"Cat Noir! WAIT!!!" I yelled as his charged hand slammed into my chest he opened his eyes as I gasped. It felt like my bones were crumbling into nothing as I collapsed, everything went black.

"Ladybug!" Cat Noir yelled as he came to my side. He sat down and cradled my head in his lap. My breathing felt weak as well as barely being able to keep my eyes open. I looked at Cat Noir, who looked like he was going to burst into tears as a light engulfed us.

At first I thought this was curtains for me but then I heard Cat Noir's voice. "Come and get me, you fat ugly." It yelled as Cat Noir's lips didn't move. His gaze locked on something in the distance. He turned his attention back to me as tears escaped from his face, gently rocking me. "I'm sorry, M'lady..." he mumbled as I managed to open my eyes a little more.

"It's alright, kitty..." I muttered as I breathed in sharply, wiping away some of his tears as Rena Furtive landed next to him looking absolutely shocked.

"What happened?" She asked as she placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I accidentally Cataclysmed her..." Cat Noir whispered as his shoulders sagged in despair. Rena tried to reassure him but it looked like it did nothing. I looked at the two of them and finally worked out the missing piece of the puzzle.

"Cat Noir... Rena... I've figured out my lucky charm..." I said shakily as Rena moved next to Cat Noir, trying not to cry.

"Yes, Bugaboo." He told me softly, readjusting his position slightly.

"I don't think... I'm going to be Ladybug for a while..." I informed them as they looked at each other in shock. I ignored the fact he called me 'Bugaboo' as they looked back to me curiously.

"What you you mean? Who else would take your role?" Rena questioned softly as she ran her hand through my dark hair.

"We need Scarabella... to take my place." I told them as loudly as my voice would let me before reaching for my earrings.

"What are you doing?" Cat Noir demanded as I smiled weakly.

"Following my heart, my prince." I told him as I gestured for him to lean in closer. He leaned closer. "You're the best partner I could ask for." I whispered as I planted a small kiss on his cheek.

He sat up as Rena left me and Cat Noir to call the paramedic robots. "You're gonna be alright, Ladybug." He muttered as I breathed in sharply.

"Spots off..." I mumbled as my costume slowly disappeared. Cat Noir closed his eyes tightly as I de-transformed. As soon as I did, I reached for my earrings. I almost dropped the butterflies at the back because my hands were so weak. I handed the earrings to Rena. "You know what to do with these..." I muttered as my eyes started fluttering. I was struggling to stop myself form blacking out as Rena agreed.

I heard the steady thrum of a helicopter as I heard the robotic voices. "Please move away from injured personal." The robot in charge said as Rena backed away, pulling Cat Noir up as well. He reluctantly let go of my hand as he stood up. He kept his eyes shut, knowing that he shouldn't know my true identity. 

That was about as much as I could gather since I couldn't see properly. They placed an oxygen mask over my mouth and nose as they got placed me in the stretcher. "Thank you for your co-operation. We will do what we can to help Ladybug." They said as the stretcher started moving. That was the last thing I heard before entirely blacking out.

Everything just seemed to be swimming in darkness, until I started hearing a voice. It was faint at first but it sounded familiar. "You remember when we tried out for the Ultimate Mega Strike III tournament? You were so great at the game that I didn't deserve to be your partner..." the voice paused as I realised who's it was. Adrian's. "Do you also remember when it was you're fourteenth..." it was cut off as everything went black again. 

I woke up to a beeping noise. Opening my eyes slowly, I looked around and saw my right middle finger with a clip attached to it. I tried sitting up as the robots entered the room. "It is alright, Ladybug. You are in a safe place." The one to my left said as I stared in shock. 

"Who else knows?" I asked weakly as they shook their heads. 

"No one. Do not worry, we will erase all memory files relating to you and Ladybug." The one on my right informed. "Your parents have been contacted. They will be here shortly."

After nearly being squeezed to death by worried sick parents, Alya walked in. "Hi bestie." She greeted as my mum let go, making room for my friend. "Everyone's been really worried about you." She started as I nodded, pulling myself up. My chest felt like it was on fire, making me groan. Alya looked to my parents. "Do you mind if I could talk to Marinette alone for a minute?" She asked as she gave me a look.

"Of course. Come on, Tom." Mum agreed as she pulled Papa out of the room, shutting the door behind them. Alya handed my earrings back to me. I put them in quickly as I got trapped in another tight hug. I hugged her back. We pulled apart as we got down to business.

"How was Cat Noir?" I asked, immediately remembering how devastated he looked when it happened.

"Really worried about you. Kept beating himself up over it, I reckon he'll be really happy to see you again." Alya responded as I smiled. Cat Noir will probably never let me leave his sight when he sees I'm back. I laughed at the thought as there was a knock at the door. Me and Alya looked at each other before. Who could that be? I wondered.

"Come in." I called as the door creaked open. Adrian walked in and shut the door behind him before turning to face us. I immediately felt uncomfortable. It was bad enough my parents and bestie were here and now my crush was too. "Adrian! Wha... what are you doing here?" I demanded, jumbling up my word halfway through.

"Yeah, why are you here?" Alya questioned giving him her 'I know you're hiding something.' look as Adrian looked as innocent as possible.

"I wanted to see how you were doing." He answered truthfully as I looked at Alya with worry. How long was he outside and how much did he hear? Questions raced making every part of my mind ache as he sat next to Alya. Looking at both of us before looking back to the door. "I have a confession to make." He started as dread filled my gut. Oh gosh! Don't tell me... I stopped mid thought as he took a deep breath. "I know your secrets."

"What secrets!" Alya demanded as he stood back up. I didn't trust myself to speak. Adrian looked at Alya first. "You're Scarabella..." he said as he looke at me. "And you are Ladybug."

"How do you...?" I started as he opened his jacket and out flew a black creature. Me and Alya both looked from Adrian to the kwamii and back. My jaw dropped. 

"Hello m'lady." Adrian smiled as I tried getting out of the bed, unfortunately my legs were really weak. I would've fallen to the floor if Adrian hadn't have caught me and got me sitting back on the bed.

"How is that possible!? I never told you anything!" I demanded as he started to explain. It took a while but I finally saw the connection between him and my feline partner. "This is so hard to believe." I muttered as Alya looked like she was going to beat the hell out of him.

"You've got that right!" She snapped as she regained control of her temper. "Let me see if we can get you out of here." She smiled at me as she pushed past Adrian and slammed the door behind her.
