Chapter 8

Alya's POV:

We stayed by Marinette for what seemed like ages. I kept thinking about how things would be without Ladybug and if Cat Noir would stop beating himself up over what happened. "I'll do my best to be a good Ladybug and friend to Cat Noir." I promised as Tikki and Trixx looked at me sadly before floating back into my bag.

"I hope Marinette recovers..." Tikki muttered as I gave them both a grape.

"She will do. Marinette is the most persistent person I know. Come on, we need to see her parents." I said as the bag zipped up and I was about to leave. Looking back at the bed on last time, I kept having depressing thoughts. I put them out of my mind as I pushed the door open and walked out of the hospital...

Weeks had passed since then and everyone had lost hope. Even Cat Noir didn't believe that his love bug would come back. Between balancing the hero life and school life, I didn't understand how Marinette handles it all! I kept having to ditch my boyfriend to fight evil as well as trying to give everyone hope that Marinette isn't gone for good. After school let out, I went to see how my bestie was holding up.

"Hi Alya."

I turned around and saw Adrian tailing me. "Hey Adrian." I greeted him as his gaze dropped, along with his smile. "You good, dude?" I asked as he snapped out of it, stifling a laugh.

"You sounded like Nino for a second." He noted.

"I think the way he calls everyone dude or dudette is rubbing off on me." I joked although most of the time now, Adrian keeps looking really depressed. "What's wrong?" 

"How did you..."

"You haven't been yourself lately, always being lost in your thoughts and your not as cheery as you once were a couple of weeks ago." I interrupted as he looked shocked.

"Was it that obvious?" He asked before sighing. "I guess I'm just worried about Marinette." He muttered.

"I know that feeling..." I was cut off from an alert. We pulled out our phones and saw the Akuma alert. "I've got to get going. Me and Nino are going to the movies." I lied quickly stuffing my phone away. Adrian looked at me weirdly for a second before shrugging. 

"Yeah, I've got fencing soon anyways. Catch you later." Adrian called as we ran in opposite directions. Ducking into the first alleyway I saw, Tikki and Trixx flew out of my bag.

"What's going on now?!" I snapped as I got a proper look at the alert, looks like our old buddy Psychic was back. 

"Uh oh..." Trixx muttered.

"Cat Noir isn't going to be happy about this." Tikki noted as I nodded.

"You've got that right. Let's hope he doesn't do anything stupid." I answered. "Tikki, spots on!" I cried as I transformed into Scarabella. Racing across rooftop after rooftop, I pulled out my yo-yo and tried reaching Cat Noir.

"Meow there, Scarabella." He answered before noticing my grim expression. "Something tells me that this isn't going to be fun."

"You're right about that. Three guesses who's back?"  I told him as his grin dissipated.

"Don't tell me..."

"Yeah, he's back at the Montparnasse Tower." I cut him off as Cat Noir looked lost.
