The day flies by.

I end up having classes with Jeremiah and Trent. Jeremiah talks to me, but Jonas barely glances in my direction.

Why does it bother me when I hate attention anyway?

People ask me about yesterday and whether or not I'm OK, but other than that, my first full day of school seems to be going find. It's just a lot longer than I'm used to. With my tutor, our sessions only last for at least 4 hours max.

Public school lasts a full 8 hours. Who thought that was a good idea anyway. By the time lunch comes around, my stomach is begging for food. I meet up with Kara and we walk to the cafeteria together.

I follow her in line.

"Don't eat the meatloaf." She whispers.

"Why?" I grab the chicken dish.

"Because it's more of a mystery meat than ground beef."

I snicker as the lunch lady glares at Kara. Kara hurries down the line. We pay for our food and find a seat at an empty table towards the entrance.

"So, how's your first day?" She sings.

I shrug and bite into my strawberry. "It's fine so far. I have a class with your brother."

Kara's eyes widens. She lets out a little high pitched scream.

I flinch. "Seriously?"

"What? This is how it all starts. First you classes together, then you become class partners, then life partners..."

"Whoa whoa, stop planning a wedding. I said a class. Singular not plural. And wipe that drool off your chin." I push her. "There's nothing going on between me and your brother."

She pouts. "But...I'd love to have you as a sister-in-law."

"Kara, you barely know me. I could be some kind of wacko."

"This is true, but at least my life would get more interesting."

I roll my eyes. "Interesting is overrated. Speaking of people being together, how was math with Lucas?" I wink and pick a slice of pepperoni off my pizza.

She blushes instantly. "Things are fine. I wish you'd stop messing with me about that." She forks her mashed potatoes.

"Like you do me with Jonas?" I raise a brow.

"What about Jonas?" Jonas sits down next to me at the table.

"None of your business. Can we help you?"

It seems I only exist when I'm with Kara. Barely.

"Yeah, a bunch of the guys want to go swimming. Do you want to come?"

"And you're suddenly inviting me because..."

"Look, mom says I have to invite you. It's more as a bonding tool." He gives air quotes. "You could bring Olivia with you."

"I have to work." I was supposed to start yesterday, but do to my faint spell, they let me start today. "Plus, I don't have a bathing suit." I leave the table after the bell rings to throw my plate away.

Kara catches up with me with Jonas on her heels. "Oh come on! Please go with me! If I don't go, my mom will harass me for enternity!" Kara whines.

I roll my eyes and head to my next class. "Ask Maggie."

"I will, but I want you to come too. When do you get off?"

"Around five,  but--"

"Great! We'll pick you up then! Bye!" She runs away.
