Jonas shakes his head. "Telling him where you are is a stupid plan."

We decided to go over a plan at their house due to the risk of Aunt Brenda and Uncle Clint hearing us at mine. We gather in Kara's room.

"Do you have a better one?" I snap.

He doesn't look at me.

"They can't find him so what better way to get him other than to draw him out?"

"Use yourself as bait?" Kara asks.

"Yeah."

"How are you going to do that without anyone finding out what you're doing?" Kara frowns.

"I'm leaving tonight and make sure I get as far away from the town as I can. It'll make it easier for others to be safe."

"What time?" Jonas doesn't look at me.

"Eleven. Everyone in my house is usually asleep."

He nods. "We'll meet you here."

"We can't take your truck. They'll look for your license plate." I stop his receding figure.

"I'll figure something out. Don't worry." He keeps walking away.

I sigh and stare up at the ceiling. I'm not going to cry.

"Lea?" Kara whispers.

I tilt my head toward her.

"I feel like it's dangerous to go out on our own."

"I feel it's dangerous if we don't."

"Think about it. Anything could go wrong, but if we let the FBI know--"

"I have to talk to Clark. I have to know that what he's saying is the truth. If we don't leave to capture Ian, then I at least want to hear Clark tell me something. He practically raised me, Kara."

"Okay. We'll all drive out of town and see. Then we'll tell your Aunt and Uncle about our plans and lure them here."

For once, it sounds like Kara has a decent plan.

"But what about innocent bystanders? He wants me dead, Kara."

"We'll be ready for the worse, okay? I'll tell Jonas and we'll see you tonight, OK?" She squeezes my shoulder.

I nod and pull her into a hug. "You're the best, first best friend I've ever had." I whisper.

"You're the best and interesting best friend I've ever had." She pulls away and taps my nose. She walks me to her door.

I walk to my house and find Jonas standing on the road. I pull back my shoulders and walk past him.

"Were you telling the truth?"

I stop. "About what?"

"About Clara."

"Jonas, the only thing I ever lied to you about was my name."

"Why...Why didn't she tell me?"

I glance back at him. "Maybe because people sometimes keep things from each other to keep the other person safe."

He meets my gaze.

I walk away. "I'll see you tonight."

I still feel like a heavy cloud is weighing on my shoulders. There's a black SUV parked in our driveway when I walk up to the house. Apart of me demands I run, but instead, I walk inside.

"Aunt Brenda?" I call.

"In the kitchen, honey."

Even Champ isn't around to greet me. Something is wrong.
