Time passed rather quickly to April 30th and Rue and I had already got all of my travel plans taken care of, my bags had been packed for weeks and my plane ticket was all ready to go. Finishing up my last shift in the US, I was sitting in my office finishing my last bit of paperwork for Rue. As I was typing away on my laptop I heard my door open making me look up from my screen but continue working.

" Nix, you should be at home sleeping. You have an early morning flight." Rue said and I rolled my eyes.

" Rue, late nights are the least of my worries. This paperwork is though." I mumbled flipping over the sheet and continued typing away.

" Nix..."

" No Rue, go home to Marcus. I'll be fine." I told them and they nodded.

" Good night Nix." They told me giving a small wave as they left. Going through my small stack of paperwork I finished up before midnight then made my way home. Unlocking the front door I changed into a pair of shorts and a sports bra in case my dad was still up and about out of common curiosity.

Carefully making my way up to my room, each step heavier than the last I gently opened my door then slipped inside closing it behind me. Dropping everything I was holding I fell onto my bed and sleep crashed into me like a semi, and I was quickly lost in my dreams. The night passed quickly or what was left of it I knew that I wasn't going to get more than about 4 hours worth of sleep.

" Nix! Nixie!" My father called jolting me awake after a long night of work.

" COMING!" I yelled before running my hands over my face. Then I sat up slipping on my sweatpants and grabbing a somewhat good-smelling hoodie then stomped downstairs. " You know I did work last night, right?"

" I do, but as your father, I have to ask, do you have everything for your trip?" He asked as he casually stirred his coffee making me roll my eyes inhaling deeply feeling the water in the air get absorbed and my pants get a little tighter. Making me huff then pour myself a cup as well.

" Yes, dad..." I mumbled.

" What's wrong?" He asked.

" I'm gonna miss you guys, I have no idea how long I'm going to be gone..." I muttered before taking a slow sip of my coffee trying to evenly distribute the temperature.

" We are gonna miss you too kiddo. I know for a fact that your mom is going to be worried sick about you." He said and I nodded my head holding out my coffee for him to chill it for me.

" Thanks Dad. I'll try and communicate as much as possible." I told him as he made my coffee cold as well as my hands freeze to the cup.

" We know princess... Just stay safe for me please." He said and I nodded, sending warm water to my hands un-sticking them from the mug so I could put it down and hug him. Letting go of his chest I chugged my coffee then ran upstairs to change into some public appropriate clothes and grab my bags, my flight leaves soon. Lugging them down the stairs I threw my duffle bag down the stairs as somehow stumbled after it, my larger suitcase eating at my ankles. Once reaching the main floor I dragged my stuff to the door before making my way to the kitchen to get my day so he could take me to the airport.

" Dad!" I called as I entered the kitchen seeing my mama and dad in a bit of a moment smirking. " Alright, children break it up," I told them, making my dad smirk and give my mama one last kiss while she was still in her hero costume. I gave her a warm smile and opened my arms for her to hug me goodbye.

" My baby!" my mother called, freeing herself from dad and hugged me.

" I'm gonna miss you..." I whispered in her ear as she squeezed me tight. " Love you, mama," I whispered, then kissed her temple.
