plot: in which you and your boyfriend spend time watching a sunset in the car.

The sky resembled a watercolour painting of pinks, oranges, and yellows as the sun bid farewell for the day, slowly setting on the horizon. 

A slight smile was plastered on your face as you felt your eyelids get heavier in each passing moment. This was definitely your favourite part of the day: the sunset. The feeling of warmth on your face, and the bronze light that was strewn across everything around you. Leaning your head back on the car seat, you slowly turned to look at your boyfriend.

Much to your satisfaction, Jaehyun also had a smile plastered on his face as he stared at the setting sun. While he was admiring the picturesque sunset, you admired him as the golden sun illuminated his soft features. With an even bigger smile, you turned back to face the sky.

You two didn't get to spend much time together, but it was moments like this that you both cherished the most. It was perhaps the part of your relationship that you felt the most comfortable in. Sitting without sharing words. Hearing each other's breaths and just being in each other's companies. Whether it was watching a movie, just lying on the bed together, or like right now, gazing at the sky in your car, you two felt grateful that you could share these quiet moments together without feeling the need to break any awkward silence. 

With the quiet background music of Frank Ocean, you both felt the childish smiles on each other's faces. As if by intuition, you both turned your heads to face each other, causing even bigger smiles to be plastered on your faces.

"God, I love you," you mumbled under your breath, somewhat to yourself, but also making sure that he could just make out the words you were saying.

He let out a chuckle in response, not breaking eye contact with you. The sun was now hitting his eyes so that they looked like pools of melted chocolate - silky and comforting. "Well, I think you're the love of my life," he said this with some sheepishness. You couldn't help but grin at his words. He had never said that about you, and you felt on top of the world.

"I never thought I'd hear you say those words before I did," you let out with a laugh as Jaehyun blushed as looked down. You laughed even more at your victory in getting him to break the eye contact first. Suddenly, his eyes made his way back to yours as your stomach became a cage of butterflies trying to break free. 

The sunset was now in its optimal golden hour, lighting up both of your features. As his face got closer to yours, you could see all the little things on his face up close. His moles, his lashes, his dimples. Even though you two had kissed before, you still felt like a teenage girl on her first date with her crush. He always made you feel like you were falling in love with him all over again. 

Your lips finally connected, and you felt him smile into the kiss which made you do the same. The sun felt warm on your skin even after you parted lips after a while. He stared into your eyes and moved a strand of your hair behind your ear all whilst having the most adoring smile playing on his lips.

"I know this'll sound super cheesy," he started, his ears turning a bright pink, "but you've literally got glitter for skin." You laughed hard at his words.

"I think that's just the sun, babe," you said with a pout at his cuteness and a peck on his lips.

"No, no, I don't think it is," he said, remaining serious despite his ears burning up. "I don't need light to see you shine. You're the golden hour in every hour of my life."

You couldn't think of a response. He usually got quite flirtatious and teased you, but you could tell this was genuine. He didn't have a playful grin on his face, but rather an intimate look in his eyes and a soft smile on his lips. He truly meant it.

"Jaehyun, I'm 100% sure that you're the love of my life too," you smiled as you watched him grin at your words, pulling you in for another kiss while the sun set in front of you two, but the warm feeling stayed with you.
