I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs. I started to put on my clothes for the day. As I got up I saw that Darry was making breakfast as usual. I looked in the fridge for some chocolate milk. "There's some ice in the freezer," Darry said. As I grabbed milk and ice, I sat on the counter. I heard a noise coming from the living room. "What's that sound?" I asked Darry. "Oh the boys slept here last night. They didn't want to go home," he said. I could hear footsteps. I went over to the living room. Everyone was getting up. Dally was sleeping on the couch and Steve was sleeping on the chair. "Guys, where Two-bit?" I asked them. Steve rubbed his eyes. "He said he was gonna get some cigarettes," Steve said. "You didn't go with him?" I asked. "He brought his switch," Dally said. I sighed. I went to the kitchen and told Darry. "We have to go look for him. Could you get Soda?" He asked. I nodded. I wanted to wake Soda but he wasen't in bed like I thought. "What are you doing?" I asked.

He looked up from the paper. "Oh I'm writing a letter to give to Dally when he sees Pony or if he does," Soda said. I sat next to him. "How far did you get?" I asked. "I'm apologizing for Darry for hitting him," he said. "So what's up?" I sighed. "We have to go find Two-bit, he went out alone," I explained. He got up. "Ok lets go," he said. We finally went out to go find Two-bit but before we left Soda was talking with Darry. We went to a popular street corner. "Dally go south. Steve go west. Soda, Coco go north. I will go east near his house," Darry said. "If we don't see each other in an hour, meet at the house." We nodded. As we went in our directions, I was thinking about Darry and Soda's conversation. "What are you thinking about?" Soda asked. "Nothing," I lied. "You're thinking about something," he said. "No I'm not," I replied. "Yes you are," he said. "You do that thing when you lie, you can never look anyone in the eye." I looked at him. "What were you and Darry talking about?" I asked. "I don't know what you're talking about," Soda said. "You're lying," I said. "You do that thing where you answer too fast." He sighed. "I was just talking with Darry and I said that I think you shouldn't be left alone anymore," he said.

"You think I can't be left alone?" I said. "That's not what I meant," he said. I started to get pissed. I rolled my eyes. "Yeah of course you didn't," I said. I started to walk faster. "Come on. We need to find Two-bit," I reminded him. After a while, we couldn't find Two-bit. But then there was some screaming. Me and Soda ran. We stopped in our tracks. Two-bit was in the floor trying to fight back a Soc. We ran over to them. As Soda pulled the Soc of of Two-bit, I helped him on his feet. "You got cut a bit," I told him. "You should see the other guy," he responded. I chuckled. We looked at Soda. He already drove the Soc away. Soda pulled a rag out of his pocket. "Well their not that deep. They're going to heal," Soda said. We started to walk back to the house. When we were walking, the whole time Two-bit was explaining to us what happened. He said that we just walking back from the store when the Soc tried to jump him. "The Soc said he as agrgery about us stopping them from jumping Coco," he said. "Why does that matter? They never cared before," Soda said. "I don't know they said that 'We don't need another low life greaser on our hands'," Two-bit shrugged. My heart dropped. It seemed like I lost feeling in my feet. "Hey Coco, are you ok?" Two-bit asked. I nodded. We kept on walking. We finally arrived at the house. While Two-bit sat on the couch I went to go get a wet rag and bandages. I went to the bathroom and opened the cabinet. I got a small towel and something to wrap the wounds with. I heard someone come in. I turned around. "Hey Soda," I said. He started to close the door. I was confused.

"Sodapop, what's going on?" I asked. "Are you ok? He asked. I turned around to get more stuff. I started to hold my breath. "I don't know what you're talking about," I quickly said. I could hear him sigh. "Coco... are you scared?" He asked. I hesitated. I turned around. I could see the sadness in his eyes. He wasn't smiling or laughing. "Do you want the truth?" I told him. "Yea," he responded. "It's bothering me a bit," I admitted. There was a moment of silence. "Show me your arms," he said. I was surprised. I didn't know if he wanted to scold me or give me pity. For a moment I just went there without saying another word. "Coco." I blinked. "Why?" I asked. "Coco, I'm not here to yell at you," Soda said. I sat the medical supplies down and pulled off my leather jacket. I slowly put my arms out for Soda to see. I looked away as he examined them, hoping he wouldn't get disappointed. I stood there for a moment.
Suddenly, I could feel my hands being brought together. I looked at Soda to see that he was holding both of my hands together. "Coco, you don't need to do this anymore," he said. I smiled. I gazed into his eyes. They seemed to light up with color again. He had a smile on his face that was so wide it could stretch from ear to ear. I couldn't help but smile too. "Day one," he said. I turned around to get the supplies. "Come on, we need to get Two-bit cleaned up," I said. We started to walk back. Soda went into his room and I started to clean up Two-bit. "You were in there for a long time," Two-bit said. "And?" I asked. "Soda was also gone for a long time..." he continued. I knew exactly where the conversation was going. I started to get a bit flustered. I grabbed the towel and cleaned out his wound. "You're blushing," he said.

"Two-bit I swear there's nothing there," I said. I started to wrap his head. "Do you know anything about him?" He asked me. I was silent. "I know... a bit," I replied. "Then tell me what you have learned," Two-bit said. He started to get comfortable and looked at me with intimidating eyes. "His middle name is Patrick. He likes cars, drag races, flannels, horses, especially his horse Mickey Mouse, his brothers, rodeos, rain, chocolate cake, chocolate milk, playing poker, and Steve. He has dark gold greased back hair and his eyes are a dark brown. But when he looks into the sun they start to become lighter. He's like a half a foot taller than me. When he smiles, it's like he's infected with this kind of... happiness drug all the time. And as hard as it is, I can't help but smile at it," I gazed. I looked back at Two-bit. He had a grin as big as Dally's criminal record.

"What are you smiling at?" I asked. "You like Sodapop Curtis," he said. "No I don't," I said. Tow-bit looked at me surprised. "Did you hear yourself?" He asked. I thought about what he said. Then the realization of what I said smacked me in the face. I started to get quiet. "Maybe I do, I don't know," I wipered. He smiled and then his face started to turn serious. "Coco. You should deserve a happy ending," Two-bit said.
