"Don't you do it". Porco locked eyes with his foe. "I'll have my revenge". The dark eyes were unwavering, and with a swift motion Porco's nightmare came to life.

There was a loud clatter, the sound of broken ceramic, and a scream.

"D*mn it you moron!", Porco yelled as the hot coffee splattered on the floor and some across his legs.

His enemy sat there on the kitchen counter with a look of indifference.

"Cats are such a*ssholes", Porco muttered to himself and he went to get a towel.

*****************

Pieck came in from her morning run to seeing a grumpy Porco sweeping up pieces of a broken coffee mug from the floor.

It took all her energy not laugh.

"Did you and Mocha have another fight?", she asked with a giggle.

Porco just gave her a grumpy look. "You mean Mocha the monster". He swept up the last bit of shattered coffee and toss it in the trash.

"Well you never make the effort to get along with him, or Latte". Pieck said, getting a water from the fridge.

"Cats have always been out to get me Pieck, ever since I was a kid", Porco said. "I still have a scar from when Bertholdt's cat scratched me as a kid". He pointed to a now non-existent scar just below his eye.

Pieck had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. She could quote this story word by word.

"....and them WHAM.....claws to the face!!", Porco slashed the air.

Pieck took a long sip of her water. "Yeah but didn't you get in his face"

"That's not the point Pieck, my dog never minded me getting in his face"

Pieck sighed, "cats are a lot more territorial Pock, I'm going to shower". She walked to their bathroom with Mocha and Latte at her heels.

"You are lucky I love you Pieck, or those cats would live outside". Porco called to her playfully as he heard the water running.

***A few days later****

Porco had just got home from work. He was tired, it had been a long day, and his students about drove him up a wall. He was grateful for the rain, it meant he could cancel baseball practice. So he was able to come home around 4:30. Pieck wouldn't be home for another few hours.

He let out a sigh of relief as he took off his work shoes, and let his socked feet take him to the kitchen.

*Squish*

Porco cringed at the disgusting sound and the wet feeling seeping into his left sock. He slowly lifted up his foot, there were bits of regurgitated cat hair stuck to his sock.

"D*mn it Latte!!!" He shouted out. He recognized the tan fur. "Why can't you just cough up your hair balls in your litter box?"

He took off his socks and put them in the laundry basket, and went to their room. After putting on some sweat pants and t-shirt, he came back and begrudgingly cleaned up the hair ball, while
Latte sat on the kitchen counter, slowly swishing her tail back and forth.

"You're enjoying this aren't you?" Porco grumbled to the cat.

The cat just let out a sassy meow.

Porco never liked cats, something about him and cats just never mixed. Then he met Pieck his junior year in college, and he fell hard. Pieck was soft spoken, kind, but also could have a stubborn streak to her. She was also a major cat person. She grew up with cats and had a cat her senior year in college but was forced to give her to her friend Annie while she was in physical therapy school, as their apartment complex wouldn't allow  pets.

Porco has been relieved, as they had moved in together while she started PT school, and he had starting teaching at his first school while getting his Masters Degree.

Now they had their first house. Latte was the first.  Pieck had decided to tag along with Annie and Bertholdt as they went to adopt a dog at the local humane society.

She came home with a cat. A fluffy coffee cream colored cat. Porco was speechless. But all it took was Pieck's sweet brown eyes, and how much she love was in her eyes for the cat, and if she made Pieck happy, well he could tolerate it.

A few months later, Pieck came home from work pretty late. She had texted Porco, so he wasn't worried but he still had a bit of a sinking feeling in his stomach.

He had been a right to trust his gut. He was engrossed in an MLB game, Atlanta at Philly. He was a Mets fan but he always appreciated a good baseball game.

That's when Pieck came home.

It was the bottom of the 7th, Atlanta had bases loaded, and the count was 2-2.

As the pitch came down the lane, the crack of a bat was muffled by a meow.

"Soooo Pockie......the reason I'm late..."

"Pieck.....you didn't......"

"Look I found him behind the dumpster at work, I think he was abandoned, so we've been at the vet and-"

"What do you mean we?"

"Please Porco, he's super sweet and has his shots now"

Those d*mn brown eyes.

So now they had two cats, Latte and Mocha. Pieck loved coffee.

He got a beer from the fridge and sat on the couch, taking out his work laptop and decided to get ahead on grading some papers.

***a few hours later***

Pieck shook off her rain coat in the front hall as she came home from work. Traffic has been hell, it was like when it rained people forgot how to drive.

"Pock...I'm home" Pieck called out softy.

She went to the kitchen to put some of the groceries away, and then made her way to the living room.

She was about to call out Porco's name when she saw him. Curled up on the couch was Porco with Latte laying on his chest, and in the crook of his elbow was Mocha. All 3 were in a deep sleep, cuddled up together.

Pieck smiled, she knew deep down that the cats would grow on him. Porco put on a tough guy front but Pieck new that he had a warm heart, especially for animals. Despite his "hatred" for cats.

Pieck quickly snapped a few pictures, this was definitely Instagram worthy, and gently laid a blanket over the 3 of them.

Pieck went to the kitchen to start dinner, Porco's nose and stomach would wake him up eventually.

As she diced a zucchini, she smiled again.

"I'll tell him about Cappuccino tomorrow".
