JACK THE KING (Lord of the Flies reimagined)

Part 25 - ANOTHER SHOCK

Jack and Dani decided to keep her pregnancy to themselves for the time being and not tell the boys, But the boys were a bit surprised when Jack announced that they would start a signal again

''Why do you suddenly want to start a signal again now?'' Jason asked ''You were always against it''

Jack shrugged ''I dunno maybe  Simon was right when he said that we don't want to stay here forever. It's all fun and games now but maybe soon we'll all start to get fed up''

''But you won't be Jack the King anymore if you go back to normal civilization'' Roger pointed out

''Oh I wouldn't bet on that'' Jack said with a smirk ''I'll always find a way to be in power somehow'' 

It was a quiet day, nothing much was happening after all the action with Simon and Ralph's deaths. Then Roger and Henry were seen having a huge fight, really very vicious and spiteful, it surprised everyone

''I HATE YOU I AM SICK OF THE SIGHT OF YOU!'' Henry screamed and began to wrestle with Roger ''I HATE YOUR SICK GAMES AND IDEAS!

''YOU'RE TOO BORING FOR ME NOW'' Roger yelled back 

''WELL, YOU'RE A VERY SICK AND DISGUSTING PERSON!''

''DON'T PLAY THE INNOCENT, YOU WERE INTO IT AS MUCH AS I WAS AND YOU KNOW IT''

''YEAH WELL NOW I'VE HAD ENOUGH, YOU FREAK ME OUT AND I WANT US TO BREAK UP!''

''SUITS ME FINE''

As they wrestled and punched each other the others ran to break them up

''STOP THIS AT ONCE!'' Jack demanded ''the Queen is sleeping and she does not want to be woken by you two idiots. Now either kiss and make up or stay the fuck out of each other's way''

''I'll go for a swim!'' Henry said and marched off

''Well I'll go hunting with some of the boys'' Roger said. He gathered Paul and some of the others together and they left with their spears  

Sometime later Henry was on the beach with Jason and some of the other boys when Jack came to speak to him

''Listen Henry I don't know what was going on between you and Roger before but I don't want a repeat performance ok?'' he told him firmly

''Yes, Sir I'm sorry. it's just Roger is too much sometimes, you don't know what he can be like to have as a boyfriend'' 

While they were talking no one noticed a spear being aimed at Henry from the trees in the background and then suddenly a spear went straight into Henry's chest and pierced his heart and killed him instantly. Jason, Jack, and the other boys who were there at the time just sat in silence for a moment, stunned

Then they began to panic thinking more spears might be aimed at them

''Which direction did it come from, did anyone see?'' Jack demanded

''It was the trees over there Sir'' one of the littluns said and pointed in the direction of the trees the attacker aimed from

''Let's try and catch them, come on!''

All the boys ran off to hunt for the attacker. But there was no sign of anyone  

Roger, Paul, and the hunters were back at the camp with bloodied spears and a dead pig with its head on a stick

Jack and the others came back to camo looking grave and Jack announced the murder of Henry

''It must have been one of you hunters'' he told Roger and the hunters while looking very grim

''Sir it wasn't any of us really'' Paul insisted ''we hunted a pig that's all''

Jason stared at Roger, who didn't seem very upset about his boyfriends death. ''Maybe it was Roger who killed him?'' he said ''after all they had a fight today''

''Yes that's true'' Jack said and looked at Roger

Now Roger remembered to look upset ''Oh you don't really think it was me do you?'' he sobbed ''I loved Henry to bits! Sure we had a fight but I still loved him, we would have made up later''

Roger ran off in tears

''Do you think it was him, Sir?'' Jason asked Jack

''I don't know, but he has to be the prime suspect doesn't he?'' 

When Dani woke up Jack told her the news

''I can only think it must have been Roger'' Jack said sadly ''And in that case, he'll have to be punished for it. I didn't give anyone permission to start killing people''

 Dani started to look worried and sheepish ''There is something I should tell you'' she said ''I don't know if it really was Ralph who attacked me, the boy who attacked me wore a mask and didn't speak. I lied when I said it was Ralph''

''Why did you lie?''

''Because I hated him and wanted revenge. The point is maybe whoever attacked me is the same boy who killed Henry and tried to kill Maurice. Maybe there is someone here who enjoys attacking and hurting people''

''But who? Roger?''

''Could be Roger or could be any of them''

''Well it wasn't Jason and a few of the littluns who were with me at the time of Henry's death''

''It's a scary thought if there is an attacker, I hope I am wrong and nothing else happens''

Jack began to feel uneasy ''I don't know it is worrying'' he said ''Maurice was attacked, then you and now Henry has been killed''

''Well at least we know it can't be Roger or Simon right'' Dani said with a laugh, trying to make a joke

Jack was angry with her ''I am disappointed in you for lying to me about Ralph attacking you'' he told her sternly ''If you were one of the boys you can be sure I would punish you severely for it but because it's you I'll let it go but please don't ever lie to me again''

''I won't and I am sorry my darling ''Dani said and hugged him ''I shouldn't have lied and I repent I really do'' 

When Roger returned Jack was ready to talk to him

''I need to ask you if you killed Henry and I need you to be honest with me it's important''

''Sir I didn't kill him I swear I didn't Sir please believe me'' Roger said with tears in his eyes ''Look we fell out but I still loved him'' 

Jack looked very unsure ''I'll give you the benefit of the doubt'' he told him ''I have no evidence of anything''
