A/N- Been a while aha. Happy Reading :)

The three of us landed safely on the ground after jumping out of the Mafia building, but Tanizaki and I were wounded. Kyouka tried to calm me and stop my crying, but I couldn't even control the endless flow of salty water streaming down my cheeks. A truck started to approach us rapidly and before I knew it, I was getting pulled up into the back of it. It turned out to be Atsushi's hand pulling me in, and he noticed my wound and tears almost immediately. He nudged me over to Yosano while she took a clear look at my wound.

"tch, quite the wound Y/N," Yosano mumbled.

"Can you heal her?" Ranpo stepped through the small crowd towards me.

"I can, but I really don't want to. If I must then I will," She sighed.

"Why can't you heal me?" I asked, perking my head up. Yosano was quick to push my head back down and shush me.

"Try to sleep young Y/N, everything will be fine once you awaken."

"Sorry Ranpo, we didn't manage to finish the job..." Tanizaki sighed as his hand clutched his wound tightly. I started to doze off, and after what seemed like forever, I fell into a light slumber. At least it took away my aching pain.

🧡

As I woke up from my nap a burst of pain spiraled through my body. I payed little to no attention to the pain, hoping to only forget it. My scenery had changed from the last time I was conscious, I seemed to be back in the clean hospital room where I saw the strange man. I looked over my shoulder to see Dazai, sitting up against the headboard.

"Hello Y/N!" He opened his arms as much as he could, which wasn't very far. I ran over and gave him a light hug.

"You're finally awake! I've been waiting forever!" My voice muffles through the hug, but Dazai definitely heard.

"You do have a serious wound Y/N, what's that from?" He tutted while rubbing arm arm softly.

"This big demon thing! Tanizaki got me to stop my ability all on my own, but instead of thanking us she attacked again and her demon's sword went through my arm! Yet even after I got hurt Yosano didn't wanna heal me..." I told him, recalling the memories and reenacting them as best I could.

"Yosano's ability is quite complicated, and I doubt she'd want to use it on such a small child like you," He smiled and I went back to sitting on the chair right next to the bed. I wanted to bring up the mysterious man I saw at the door earlier in the morning, but it was like a cat caught my tongue, or even worse, a rat caught my tongue. Anytime I opened my mouth to ask Dazai about the purple-eyed man, I immediately shut it again, leaving the two of us in silence. Not an awkward silence, but not a comfortable silence.

"Something on your mind Y/N?" Dazai perked his head up and raised his eyebrows in curiosity.

I looked into his eyes before opening my mouth again, noise coming out this time.

"I saw this man earlier at your door. He told me some things from my world and it really creeped me out, he disappeared before I could say anything though," I mumbled, my voice coming across quite soft, yet wary and careful.

"I see, what did he say? This information might be able to help us get you home," Dazai placed a hand on his chin, rubbing it slightly, like a real detective. I thought back to the morning, trying to remember every detail. From his appearance, to his thickly coated Russian accent.

"He didn't call me by my name Dazai, he called my by my experimental name. Test Subject 2528," The words tastes like a brick of cement being shoved down my throat. Those three words sent shivers down my spine, and memories I thought were locked away came flooding back and overwhelmed me. It's all in my head though.

"What exactly happened to you Y/N, in your former life. Just what did they do to you...?" He enquired. His tone curious yet serious all at once. I don't know if I'm quite ready to share my past, I'm not quite ready to be so vulnerable in such an unknown world. Although Dazai probably asked with good intentions, I can't shake the feeling of a bad intention growing around me. What if he used my past against me, what if he caught me off guard at such a vulnerable time...

My thoughts stampede throughout my brain, urging me to stay silent and not say another peep.

"It's okay Y/N, you don't have to tell me now, I can wait," Dazai's gaze softened as our eyes met, and I couldn't help but feel guilty for not telling him.

After a few more hours under the nurse's watch, Dazai was finally able to leave the hospital. It had only been a few hours since his release, but I was already getting ushered into another van. Dazai told me he had some sort of plan to find the virus ability user, the ability that kept the mafia boss and the agency boss at death row. Inside the van sat Atsushi, and another male a few years older then Atsushi.

"Let me go Dazai!" Atsushi whined. From the look on his face, I was sure he despised the other man sitting nearer me. Dazai kept a firm grip on the collar of their clothes, but I was free to roam. I used that as my advantage, so I skipped around the moving van, and the only thing Dazai could do was plead me to stop and take a seat.

"No can do Atsushi, if I let you two go you'll start fighting with your abilities, and we don't want that!" Dazai explained, leaving Atsushi to huff in response.

"Oh, Y/N please sit down, your scaring me! Atsushi please stop going wild, I've already got one child to deal with, plus you'll open up my stomach wound!" He looked at me directly in the eye, but I ignored him.

"Why is Akutagawa involved in such a special plan that puts our president at risk!?" Atsushi fought, loathing at the sight of the emo boy.

"It's my plan Atsushi, and you two will be infiltrating the enemies base," Atsushi gasped while the emo man stayed completely still and silent.

"Wha- Huh!" Atsushi was struggling for words at this point, needing a deeper explaination.

"You two agency kids are getting on my nerves! Akutagawa is slowly creeping his way up to my favourite," Dazai gripped Atsushi tighter, maybe to give him a warning. I could see Akutagawa's face light up at Dazai's statement, and I knew Dazai was watching my reaction specifically. I felt his stare burning my head.

"Fine, fine. I'll sit down!-" I peeped up while walking over and sitting next to Akutagawa.

"Do you know how to play patty cake?" I looked up at his stern, emotionless face. In response he just glared down at me. I pouted and looked to Dazai for assistance. He just shrugged and grinned at me, which mad me sigh dramatically. What a boring man Akutagawa was, so pale and such a lack of emotion. He must be good at hiding it all. So instead of bothering the dark man, I shuffled over to Atsushi.

"Atsushi you know how to play patty cake right?" I looked up to him, hoping for the answer yes.

"Yeah, might be a little rusty but I remember it slightly," His answer lit up my eyes, so I sat opposite him with my legs crossed in front of me. We started to play, and it was obvious that Atsushi hadn't played in a very long time. But I brushed it off, at least he knew how to play, unlike that mafia dog.

After a few rounds of patty cake, Atsushi and and Akutagawa were kicked out of the van with Dazai, and I was stuck all alone in the back of the van. Dazai came back eventually.

"Y/N, would you like to go to a cafe?"
