You ran to catch up to your sister, your were on the docks and the sun was brightly shining down on you and your sister, offering some warmth after the bitter and cold months of winter. "April wait up!" You yelled.
She ignored you and instead continued to chase the man in front of her. "Mr. Rivetti! Mr. Rivetti!" She gasped as she finally caught up to the man, "Mr. Rivetti, please!"
The man sighed and turned to face your sister, his green hard hat gleaming in the light, he continued walking as he talked to her, "You're the most persistent human I've ever met in my life I swear. Look I already told the cops everything, alright?"
It was obvious that he wanted nothing to do with this conversation, but your sister kept following him. "B-but maybe there's one detail you've forgotten to share with the police!" Mr. Rivetti sighs and he finally stops walking and gives your sister his full attention. You catch up and take a deep breath, waiting for his answer.
"Listen, you don't forget something like that! Ten guys storm in here, broad daylight, force us to the ground at gunpoint." He begins as your sister takes out her notebook and starts scribbling his words onto the paper, you glance over her shoulder as the man continues talking in an annoyed tone, "And these are restricted chemicals; Benzyl, cyanide, and some delaminating agents too."
Your sister jots down the information quickly, not wanting to miss even a word of information, "You don't just buy this stuff, even on the black market." Your eyes dart upwards at the word black market, you'd had some experience, and unpleasant didn't begin to describe it.
Your sister didn't seem to care though, "Wait you said delaminating agents? Those are used in genetic research." The man nods, and you turn towards April. "Like dad?" You ask, she nods quickly and turns back to Mr. Rivetti, finishing her sentence.
"Is there anybody else that's trafficking these sort of chemicals besides you?" Mr. Rivetti, nods, "There is one other high-security facility along this waterfront, but they don't move NEARLY as much cargo as we do." April continues to jot down some notes just as you hear a familiar and annoying voice scream your guys names.
"April! Y/N! We are LIVE in 30 minutes! Come on girls!" Vern yells. April looks back and forth between Vern and Mr. Rivetti, then she finally looks at you. You sigh and turn towards Mr. Rivetti as she runs towards Vern. "Mr, Rivetti, please, sir!" You start as he checks his watch and starts walking away.
He turns towards you and sighs. "You O' Neil sisters sure are committed aren't you?" He asks.
"More so her than me." You mutter. He sighs, "Listen, you seem nice and all, but I really have to go." He begins to walk away again and you yell after him, "Wait! Wait please!" You groan and kick a rock into the water before sighing and walking back towards the van.

"Let's just stick to what we're good at! We're good at it!" Vern says with an excited smile as you approach the van. "What did I miss?" You ask as you climb into the backseat of the van.
April turns back to you with an obvious fake smile, and responds, "Oh nothing! Just Vern being Vern." She ends the last part with a grumble and turns back around in her seat, giving Vern a not so subtle glare and eye roll as he starts the van and drives away.
30 Minutes Later...
"Hi guys! This is April O' Neil from Channel 6 News, and I am here in BEAUTIFUL New York City on the first day of spring!" April says ecstatically with a huge smile on her face as she faces the camera. You have to stifle a laugh, one minute ago she was muttering curse words under her breath and now she's up here about to do a 'Fitness' thing.
You turn towards Vern who is manning the camera, he's chewing his gum quite annoyingly and you wonder if the viewers watching from home can hear it.
"Seriously, Vern?" You mumble under your breath, only to be shushed by him as he continues his job. You roll your eyes and turn to face April, only to see a bald man in some weird fitness get-up helping her onto a mini-trampoline.
"Twenty years I've studied the animal kingdom," the man starts as talking in an EXTREMELY annoying voice. "There are fat pigs, fat cows, but no fat birds."
You giggle as you think about that last part, literally two weeks ago you had seen a fat bird eating pizza on the railing of your fire escape, how wrong this guy was.
"All right, I want you to visualize a sexy seagull..." You started laughing again, only for Vern to turn towards you and give you a glare. You quieted down but still silently chuckled under your breath. This was hilarious.

"Four years of Journalism School, so I can do that." April huffed as Vern loaded the camera back into the van, "It's embarrassing." You started laughing, "It sure was!" April shoots you a glare and you sheepishly smile at your sister. "Look O' Neil I get it, you want to be a serious journalist," Vern sighs, turning towards April, "I see you sniffing around the news room for the big stories. But it's also okay to just give people something a little lighter! A little- a little uh... a little froth?"
You and April share a laugh as she turns back to Vern, "Froth?" You laugh again, "I think that's the most ridiculous thing you've said yet Fenwick."
He growls at you as he continues, "You know how uh, when you get a coffee, it's just a coffee but then they put a little froth on it, and it's kinda nice."
You start laughing again and April smiles, "Vern, that's foam." Vern glares at you again, "Foam, froth, you get the point. It's just, it's nice! It tastes like candy! You ever heard the expression never take candy from a bab-" Vern continues, but you effectively block him out.
Babbling, babbling, babbling. That's all Vern seems to know how to do. It's pretty obvious he likes April, but you know he doesn't stand a chance and you don't like him, so instead of engaging in this little fiasco he's orchestrating, you sit back and enjoy the show. Although almost every time this happens you occasionally make comments to ruin the whole thing. Cause where's the fun in just staying quiet?
"I say that we go to my buddy's old restaurant downtown, just us two." You shoot Vern a knowing look, "Just us two? You're making it sound like a date!" You say as you elbow your sister. She rolls her eyes and turns back to Vern, "We just ate Vern."
He continues ranting, trying to save what he was saying. But you and your sister ultimately ignore him as you get onto your bikes. Vern sighs and glares at you for ruining his date with April, you stick out your tongue like a little kid, and start peddling after your sister.
Today is going great.
(Sorry that this one is shorter! The next one will be longer I promise! Stay safe! Byeeee! ☺️)
