THE COLD chilled Ophelia's bones and a shiver trickled down her spine. Snowflakes had made their home in the blonde's wavy hair, and a snowflake fluttered down from her hair with every movement she made. Ruffing her hair, she put it in a loose ponytail, as her blue eyes, were fixed on the top of the slope.

It seemed like a long way up and falling was an absolute possibility. Falling to one's death. . .

Violet had headed into the headquarters to gather some materials, for her invention. Quigley and Angelina were perplexed, on the edge of their seats, and Klaus with Sunny in his arms completely trusted his sister's abilities.

"I'm terrified of heights," blurted Angelina, an anxious look on her face, as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"I think I'm too," spoke Ophelia, her bottom lip trapped between her teeth.

"I mean are we even sure that the adults will be up there? We could be going the wrong way," spoke up Quigley.

"No, they said specifically that they were going here, I heard them," replied Angelina in reassurance.

"How did you hear them? They didn't tell us anything," questioned Quigley, his eyebrows furrowing.

A smirk appeared on Angelina's pale face. "Eavesdropped."

"Alright," came Violet's voice and all the children turned to look at her. Violet had forks in her hands, along with a ukelele, a typewriter, and a candelabra.  Ophelia's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as they looked to her least, a random assortment of objects.

"I'll need everyone to come to turn by turn so I can put this to use," explained Violet, and the children nodded. Klaus sat down on the staircase of the headquarters and Violet went to work. She hammered some forks into her desired shape and she used a string to tie it to the bottom of Klaus's boots. The candelabra was broken and sharpened at the edges.

"Let's check for durability," said Violet, sending a reassuring glance to her brother. The second eldest Baudelaire took in a breath and nodded, making his way to the frozen waterfall.

Klaus tapped the candelabra against a spot on the ice. He heard a deep thunk! as if he were tapping something very solid. He pushed the candelabra into the ice and pushed himself up, the boots aiding him perfectly. Violet's invention was perfect.

He climbed further on, and the rest of the children went to Violet for her invention. Once all of the children were in their fork-tipped climbing shoes, Quigley had already caught up to Klaus, skillfully, Sunny was stabbed on Violet's back, with the help of a cloth the inventor had found. Ophelia was just behind her, and Angelina lagged behind the group, her pale face turning paler in fear.
