The rest of the day went by in a blur. I didn't see Severus for the rest of the day but then again, my shadow hadn't left me since the dock. I couldn't really blame Severus; Sirius was quite imposing.
We walked up to Gryffindor Tower. Sirius was running his hands through his hair a little more than usual; he seemed agitated.
"What's the matter?" I asked before we entered.
"I haven't seen Remus the whole day." He said as though it was only really dawning on him now.
"I'm sure he'll be in the Common Room." I said after giving the Fat Lady the password.
"I hope so. I have a really bad feeling..." He said shaking his head.
Inside the Common Room, the Marauders were conspicuously absent.
"Lily," Sirius called out to her, "Seen James?" He was frowning.
"No, I though they were all with you." She said looking at him perplexed.
"Love," he said taking my hand, "will you be ok if I leave you for a few minutes? I think I need to find Remus."
"Sirius, you really don't have to ask for permission." I said but the frown set even deeper, "I'll be fine. I'm just going to be other here with the girls."
"Ok. I'll see you in a little bit." He said unexpectedly cupping the back of my head and giving me a kiss on the forehead. My heart fluttered excitedly and again, even though I knew I shouldn't feel this way about Sirius, I didn't really have a choice about the way my body reacted to him. I should also probably have told him to stop kissing me but it seemed natural for us. His lips were always meant t be there.
I walked over to the girls but noticed that Mary was nowhere to be seen.
"What was that?" Lily said, her own frown set into her forehead but my temper had worn thin so I didn't answer until she elaborated, "With Sirius. Why is he kissing you?"
"I don't know why he's kissing me." I said bluntly even though I did actually know why.
"And when did he start calling you love?" Her tone was slightly aggressive. I could tell that she was holding back what she really wanted to say but if she was going to climb on a high horse, I wasn't about to give her a leg up.
"I'm not sure." I said avoiding eye contact, taking my books from my bag instead.
"What about Severus, Yves? You said that you wouldn't hurt him." She had raised her voice slightly.
"I think it's a little more complicated than you realize Lily." I said keeping my voice steady.
"It's not that complicated Yves. You can't have both of them."
"I don't want both of them. But things have happened..."
