A new team

Mount Justice 18/07/2022 0800hrs

Following the incident at CADMUS, Batman and the rest of the League came to the agreement that the band of proteges should work together as a team. Though they couldn't in good conscience send them on missions where there was a high chance of fatal harm. Instead, the team would be sent on missions more covert, Overwatch would scout out the mission and any intel needed before Batman would brief them on their mission.

Jake proposed the idea that he should cut ties for the moment with all members of the team while it was still in its infancy. So the pair came up with the story that Jake decided to move to Europe to do his own investigation on a personal matter. In reality, Jake was just living on the Watchtower whenever he wasn't on missions.

But the team could not yet be trusted enough to be invited to the Watchtower, so instead the Justice League refurbished their old HQ in Happy Harbour. It was a long-dormant volcano that had been emptied out but Superman and Green Lantern in the Justice League's starting days. Now, Flash and Green Arrow quickly restocked the kitchen and other supplies while Batman, Superman, and Red Tornado hastily assembled another Zeta Tube. The mountain was also outfitted with the latest holographic displays and a new gym where the team could train.

"Arriving Batman 02, Flash 04, Robin B01, Aqualad B02, Kid Flash B03, Superboy B04." The computer voice announced, the clone of Superman had chosen the name Superboy seeing as he had most of the Man of Steel's powers and traits but was considerably younger. Big Blue wasn't too happy to find out that he had a clone of himself let alone one who would now be carrying around his people's symbol for hope. Batman had a long conversation with him about giving the kid a chance even though Jake knew that Bruce was also highly suspicious of the clone.

"You five will be staying here at the mountain where you will train and work together as a team. Red Tornado will be your adult supervisor, Black Canary will be overseeing your training and I will be briefing you on missions." Batman explained, Wally just had to put his hand up like a child and asked; "Uhh, Mr. Batman sir? You said five, there are only four of us here."

Suddenly, a young green girl appeared out of nowhere and walked over to the group. "This is Martian Manhunter's niece, she will be joining your team and will also be the second martian that is permanently here on Earth." Wally's jaw dropped so much that Robin had to pick it up for him. Batman dismissed them as he and the other League members left via Zeta tubes. Immediately after they left, the team scattered about the mountain. Robin and Wally droned around the martian while Aqualad went to his room and Superboy sat on the couch in silence.

Jake was inside the mountain the whole time and was watching the team and how they would get along with one another. Dick and Wally were already friends so that was no issue and Kaldur seemed like the most mature one out of all of them. He kept to himself but wasn't shy to interact with the others though he was a bit formal. The martian girl's name was revealed to be Megan and her hero name was Miss Martian. Fitting, but a little bit cringey in Jake's mind, though he didn't really mind seeing as she was very friendly to all the members of her team.

Superboy however was a completely different story, he kept himself isolated from the group with massive walls built up around him. His anger and rage were flowing like a strong river just beneath the surface and when poked the wrong way would show its face. Overwatch was genuinely worried about how well he would get along with the rest of the team. Alone he was an absolute powerhouse with his strength and durability but his anger and recklessness made him an easy target for any opponent with enough skill or agility.

After a few minutes, the group got together in the living room. They were all bored with the exception of Superboy and Kaldur. After a little makeup tour of the mountain, the group ended up back in the common room where a little incident occurred. Megan had tried to use her telepathy to communicate with the other members of the squad. Everyone was obviously very surprised by the intrusion but most of them handled it fairly well, explaining to the girl what the matter was so that she could understand. Superboy however did not take it well at all, yelling at Megan to stay out of his head with anger and hate seething from his teeth, Superboy walked off into the depths of the mountain.
