Expansion Plans

Watchtower 17/11/2022 1000hrs

After giving everyone some time to rest and recover, the Justice League assembled for a meeting to discuss the recent events that have unfolded. Starting off the meeting, Batman acknowledged and congratulated the Young Justice Team for their effective participation and help in the battle against the Light's forces. Speaking of which, everyone was overjoyed to be informed that most of the Light's council had been arrested and their resources had been destroyed.

Lex Luthor managed to get out of serving his sentence in prison and convinced the judge to be confined to house arrest. Black Manta and Queen Bee are currently in the wind, but Savage, The Brain and Klarion were all locked up in separate maximum-security prisons. Klarion was imprisoned in a special magical artefact in Dr Fate's tower. Though they were sceptical about ARGUS taking care of the remains of the robots, ultimately the League didn't have a say in what happened with the scraps.

Before the session ended, Overwatch had a request to make. Asking if he could bring more young heroes into the Young Justice team to train and foster them to be better heroes. The League welcomed the idea with open arms but agreed that before they were deemed ready, secret identities had to be maintained. Following the meeting's conclusion, Jake quickly caught up with Bruce to discuss a more personal matter. "Hey Bruce, could I grab you for a moment?"

"Sure Jake, what's up?"

"I was wondering whether Wayne Tech could maybe fund an idea that I have. Essentially it is a support foundation that offers food and shelter for homeless people. I think this is a great idea, especially following the massive amount of homes destroyed in the past couple of days."

"Jake, I love it. I'll get it passed by the board next time I'm in the office and I'll see whether Queen Consolidated would want in on the idea." Batman replied with a smile, clearly liking the proposed idea. Thanking Bruce for agreeing to the proposal, Jake hurried off to the Zeta platform and left for the Hall of Justice.

Washington D.C 17/11/2022 1200hrs

Arriving Overwatch 00

Coming out of the Zeta tube, Jake walked up to Dick who was looking at a black briefcase resting on the large conference table. Wondering what all of this was about, Jake leaned against an adjacent chair before announcing his presence; "Hey Dick, what's up?"

"Just processing a choice I made this morning, I told Jason that he can take on the mantle of Robin. I've come to realise that it is time for me to grow into my own hero, and plus, Jason needs Batman more than I do at the moment." Jake took all of this in, this was clearly a big deal for Dick. Being Robin for so long meant that the persona had really grown on Dick and deciding to leave it all behind must mean a lot. Jake Had so many questions but the biggest one was certainly whether or not he will still be part of the Team or if he will be taking some time off to figure things out on his own.

"That's what I'm trying to decide here, in this briefcase is a new suit that Fox made for me in case I ever wanted to try something else other than Robin. I can always just leave it shut and turn my back on all of this and go at it on my own, or I can put the suit on and stay with the team."

"If it means anything to you right now, the team would never be the same without you, especially with the new changes coming our way." Dick gazed at Jake curiously, wondering what he meant by changes. "What are you talking about?"

"That was what I was actually coming to talk with you about. The League agreed to allow some new recruits to join the team on a trainee basis where they can be taught how to work as a team. I can't do this on my own and I could really use your help, but if you want to take a break from all of this hero stuff, I completely understand."

While Grayson thought it over in his head, Jake could tell that he really wanted to accept the offer. After a few minutes, Dick finally broke the silence by groaning out; "Oh screw it."

Opening the case to reveal a black kevlar bodysuit with a bright blue bird across the chest. Inside was also a note that read Nightwing and a small instruction manual for the twin batons that were also included in the briefcase. Though there was definitely room for improvement, ultimately it was a great introduction for Dick to becoming his own hero.

After putting on the suit for the first time, the new Nightwing twirled his batons in his hands before holstering them in their sleeves on his back. Typing away on the large monitor, the two started outlining a training regiment for this new recruit introduction programme. Any ideas that they thought of immediately went on the screen as the pair brainstormed.

Suddenly, a hiss sounded through the dark conference room as a figure outlined by the previous room's light walks through the door. To Jake's knowledge, everyone in the Justice League was on the Watchtower and the Team was taking the day off. Looking at the approaching silhouette, it wasn't long before it was revealed t be none other than Roy Harper. "Hey you two, can I talk to you for a sec?"

"Sure thing Roy, what's up?" Dick replied, turns out that following the large battle and fighting alongside the other heroes, Roy's eyes were opened to the benefits of having a team supporting him. Asking to join the Young Justice team, Jake didn't see a reason why not, Roy was a very proficient fighter and a master archer. Grouping that with his tactical and stealth skillset, he would be an asset to the team in any capacity.

Welcoming him to the team, Jake introduced Harper to the new initiative that was busy planning. As the trio continued working on the programme, Jake took a moment to appreciate all that had happened throughout the past year. Even though he may have lost his family, he was extremely lucky to have found a new one. Getting back to work alongside his brothers, Jake re-inserted himself back into the work of trying to make the world a better place.
