*Sophie's pov*
It is pouring down with rain. The Pevensie children and I are in one of the many sitting rooms of this mansion. Peter is sitting in the big arm chair while I play with Lucy on the floor and Susan's questioning him on words in the dictionary. Ed is lying with his head under a chair on the other side of the room.
"Come on Peter, gastrovascular!" Susan sighs.
"Is it Latin?" Peter finally says, sounding completely bored.
"Is it Latin for worst game ever invented?" Edmund laughs, popping his head up from under the chair.
Susan angrily slams the book shut and sulks, sliding further into the chair and folding her arms.
"Come on guys, at least Susan's trying to do something productive. Both of you are only making yourself bored. You could be thinking of something to do too." I reason with them, Susan sending me a grateful smile.
I smile back at her and then watch as the boys try to think of something to say in reply but can't so eventually stop trying. Suddenly, Lucy stands, walking over to Peter.
"Can we play hide and seek? Oh, can we Peter, please please please?" She begs, giving him puppy eyes.
"But we were already having so much fun!" Peter says sarcastically, Susan sending him a glare.
He turns back to Lucy, who is now giving him the biggest puppy eyes she can, melting my heart as she does. She looks so cute.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5........." Peter sighs, standing up and leaning his head on the wall, covering his eyes.
"What?" Ed exclaims, standing and walking out the room angrily.
Lucy squealed, grabbing my hand as she pulls me out of the room to find a good hiding place. We walk through the halls until Lucy finds a curtain to hide behind. She walks over to it, pulling one back when Edmund runs behind us, pushing her out of the way.
"I found it first!" He exclaims, pulling the curtain closed again.
Lucy huffs, grabbing my hand again before I can say anything and pulls me again through the halls. We come to lots of doors, all of them locked. Then finally, one of the doors opens, we step in and the room is almost empty, the only thing in it being the massive shape in the back of the room covered by a big white sheet. Lucy steps forward towards it, grabbing the sheet when she reaches it and pulling it off to reveal a massive wardrobe. She looks back at me and grins.
"This is perfect! Come on!" She says happily.
She stepped in, me following. I turned around, looking through the door that I left open a tiny bit. I could faintly hear Peter still counting.
"95, 96, 97..."
I looked back to discover that Lucy was gone.
"Lucy?" I asked, pushing my way through the fluffy coats
"Sophie, come see this!" Her voice sounded distant.
I kept pushing through the coats, the wardrobe getting colder the further I went. The coats turning into branches, I looked down to see myself walking on snow. Lucy was in front of me now, her back to me. I walked up beside her, giving her a confused glance but I couldn't help but stare in awe at the scene in front of me. Before me stood lots and lots of trees, all covered in snow. Lucy and I exchanged looks.
"Should we have a look?" Lucy asked, looking at me with hopeful eyes.
"I'm sure they won't miss us too much. Let's go." I replied, grabbing her hand.
I pull her along and we walk further into the wood. We come to a clearing with a tall lamp post in the middle. We walk up to it, Lucy reaching out to touch it. Suddenly, I hear rustling in the trees. It happens again and I slowly reach out for Lucy's hand to pull her behind. A man with very hairy legs and hooves appears from behind a tree and I yelp and pull Lucy behind me quicker, hiding behind the lamp post.
I see the man doing the same so I quietly step out from behind the lamp post and walk slowly over to him so I don't scare him. Lucy follows and we pick up the parcels that he dropped. He steps out too and we hand him the parcels.
"Were you scared of us?" Lucy asks him bewildered.
"I, um, just didn't want to scare either of you." He replies shyly.
"If you don't mind my asking. What are you?" I ask politely.
"Well I'm a faun of course, and you two must be some sort of beardless dwarfs?" He asks.
"We're not beardless dwarfs, we're girls!" Lucy tells him.
"You mean to say you are daughters of Eve?" He exclaims.
"Well my mums name is Sarah.."
"And my mums name is Helen.."
"But you mean to say that you both are in fact, human?"
"Well of course!" Lucy exclaims.
"What are you doing here?" He cries, looking around him with a scared expression.
"Well we were hiding in the wardrobe in the spare room when-"
"Spare 'oom? Is that in Narnia?" He cuts me off mid-sentence.
"What's Narnia?" Lucy asks curiously.
"Well, my dear girl, you're in it! Everything from this lamp post all the way to Castle Cair Paravel on the eastern ocean."
"This is a very big wardrobe!" Lucy says in awe.
"I'm sorry, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tumnus."
"Pleased to meet you, Mr Tumnus, I'm Sophie Blakely and this is my friend Lucy Pevensie." I introduce us politely.
"Well Sophie Blakely and Lucy Pevensie, from the shining city of wardrobe in the far away land of Spare 'oom. How would it be, if you came and had tea with me?" Mr Tumnus asks, bowing to us.
"That would be-" Lucy starts, but I cut her off.
"We should really be getting back, Mr Tumnus, but thank you for the invitation. Maybe next time we're here?"
"Oh come on, it's not every day I get to make a new friend. Please?" He begs.
"Yeah, please, Soph. I'm sure the others won't mind." Lucy started begging too, making me give in.
"Alright, fine. But only for one cup."
Mr Tumnus takes one of our arms each and we walk under his umbrella. We walk for a bit until we come to a small door on the side of a giant rock. Mr Tumnus unlocks it and allows us to step in before him. He guides us to a little couch in the middle of the room and then goes to the small kitchen to make the tea. After about 5-10 minutes he comes back and hands us a small mug each and sits opposite us on an armchair.
We sit for about an hour making small talk and sipping our teas. When I finish I stand up, looking to Lucy.
"Well we best be off. Coming, Lu?" I turn back to Mr Tumnus, "Thank you very much for the tea but if we don't return soon, Peter will have a panic attack from worry."
"Alright, well I hope to see you soon girls."
He leads us back through the woods and to the lamp post.
"You girls know how to get back from here, don't you?" He asks.
"Yes, thank you for everything, Mr Tumnus, we'll see you soon." I tell him.
"Bye, Mr Tumnus." Lucy smiles and waves.
"Goodbye, Lucy" he smiles and waves back.
We make our way back to the opening we used to get out of the wardrobe and head back through. Once we're out of the wardrobe door, I still hear Peter counting.
"98, 99, 100. Ready or not, here I come."
Finding this suspicious, I turn to Lucy to tell her but she's already running out of the door shouting.
"We're okay, don't worry. We're fine."
"Shut up, Lucy. He'll hear you." I hear Ed hiss.
just as Ed finishes speaking, Peter comes around the corner and I turn the opposite corner, blushing a bit when I see Peter look my way.
"I don't think you 3 have quite got the meaning of this game." He says sarcastically, looking at me and grinning.
"But weren't you wondering where we were?" Lucy asks sounding upset, thinking they didn't care.
"That was the point, he's supposed to be seeking you." Ed says bitterly.
"Does this mean I win?" Susan says, looking pleased with herself, as she walks up behind Peter.
"But we've been gone for hours..." She says confused.
"Lu, I don't think anytime passed in this world.." I tell her and she turns to look at me confused.
"In this world? What do you mean? There is only one world.." Peter says, sounding more confused than ever.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Susan reaches through the wardrobe and knocks on the back as Ed goes around the back a knocks on the back.
"The only wood here is the back of the wardrobe." Susan says to Lucy.
"One game at a time, Lu." Peter tells her.
"It really was there, Pete" I tell him, looking at him.
He turns to me.
"Soph, stop. There's nothing there. Don't encourage her." He replies, a bit forcefully.
"I'm not lying to you, Peter. Why would I do that?" I ask, getting angry.
"Well I believe you." Ed says, smirking.
I can tell he isn't going to say something nice, but Lucy replies before I have the chance.
"You do?" She asks, sounding hopeful.
"Didn't I tell you about the football pitch in the bathroom?" He laughed, making Lucy frown, tears falling from her eyes.
"Ed, stop it! I've had enough of how you're treating your siblings! Can't you please just be helpful while we're here? Making your sister cry isn't helpful to anyone and talking back to Peter and Susan isn't either." I plead, trying to make him see sense.
"Why would I ever do anything you say? You're nothing but a stupid girl. No one even likes you! Get over yourself." He shouts at me.
I feel tears coming to my own eyes as he says this.
"Is that how you really feel?" I ask, looking to Peter and Susan.
But Edmund replies first.
"Of course they do, you stupid bitch."
"ED!" Peter shouts, scaring me a little. "Why would you tell her all those lies. Can't you just stop ruining other people's lives? You're so selfish! Grow up!"
"SHUT UP! You think you're dad, but you're not!" Ed shouts back before storming out of the room.
I'm still standing, tears rolling down my face and Susan walks up to me putting a comforting arm around my shoulders.
"Don't listen to anything Ed says, none of that was true. You're my best friend and I love you to pieces, no matter what. I better go check on Ed, will you be okay?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine. Thank you. Go see if he's okay." I reply, my voice breaking from crying.
She walks out of the room, glaring at Peter.
"It really was there. Lucy says sadly, looking at Peter.
"That's enough, Lucy!" Peter says firmly.
"It's okay, Lu. I'll handle it. Go and see Susan and Ed, I'll speak to you later." I whisper to her and she runs out smiling at me.
"What he said was a lie you know." Peter says to me.
"Well I would know all about that wouldn't I?" I say bitterly.
"What?" He asks, confused.
"Well, you say Lucy and I are liars too, so I would know.."
"Soph, it's not like that, I-"
"Well what is it like Peter? Have I ever lied to you before?"
"No, but-"
"Then it shouldn't be hard to figure out then should it?"
"Well it's kind of hard to believe when it is completely impossible. I mean, how would you find a whole new world in a little wardrobe. Come on. Stop being so stupid and-"
"So you do think I'm stupid? You probably always have!"
"No, Soph-"
"No, it doesn't matter Peter. I don't need you to pity me for having no friends and being disliked." I say, trying not to cry, "what was I even thinking? I can never have friends, I'm just a stupid little girl, aren't I? I'm sorry for being such a burden. You won't have to put up with me! Goodbye, Peter."
I run out of the room and down to the room I share with Susan and Lucy. They must still be with Edmund because none of them are in here. So I jump on my bed, curl up into a ball and cry myself to sleep.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Peter's pov*What have I done? I drove away the girl of my dreams. Yes, I have a crush on Sophie Blakely, my sisters best friend. I just can't help it. She's so beautiful. With her big, bright blue eyes and her wavy blonde hair. I'm such an idiot! But nothing she said was making sense. I mean, who's ever heard of finding a secret land in a wardrobe. It just can't be true. I just hope it won't affect our friendship because I couldn't stand it if she was mad at me. I just wish she would look at me the way I look at her. But I'm just stupid Peter Pevensie. I'm nothing special. She would never like me.
I walk back to my room, to find all of my siblings in there.
"Pete, what's wrong?" Susan asks.
"Nothing, I'm going to bed. Goodnight." I say emotionless and get in my bed, falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, thinking only of her.
