*Sophie's pov*

We're walking along in the snow. The Beavers in front, Susan, Lucy, Peter and I trailing behind. We lost the wolves thanks to the fox. He gave them false information. Told them we were heading the complete opposite direction. We really do owe him. He got injured by the wolves though. Mrs Beaver treated his wounds but he left straight after saying he had been given the job of gathering an army by "The Aslan". I can't wait to meet this Aslan they speak of. He sounds great. Everyone here worships him so he must be.
Too busy daydreaming of what Aslan will be like, I haven't realised that I've completely stopped walking and am standing behind the others. Peter turns when he doesn't feel my presence.
"Aren't you coming?" He asks with a smirk.
I give him a small smile back and run to catch up.
"Yeah, sorry."
"Are you okay?" He whispers in my ear once we're out of hearing distance of the others.
"Yeah, just deep in thought. I was just wondering what Aslan will be like. He sounds brilliant, Pete." I tell him honestly.
"I'm sure he will be. If everyone else says he's the best, I bet he is.
We walk a little further through a big open field of snow. Lucy on peters back, the 2 of them having a conversation about turning Mr Beaver into a fluffy hat, with Susan and I walking behind them deep in conversation.
"You know, I've missed this." I tell her honestly, giving her a sad smile.
"Yeah, me too. We haven't spent much time together since we got to the Professors house. I miss our late night conversations about boys and school and I miss the jokes we share." She says sadly, laughing as she tells me what she misses.
"We can't forget annoying your siblings. I miss that the most," I laugh and she does too, "We have to start doing those things again because I've missed my best friend! When we're out of here and back in Finchley, we'llmake sure everything goes back to normal." I say, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze.
"Of course." She replies, both of us grinning at each other.
"Peter, what's that?" I hear Lucy ask.
"What's what, Lu?" He replies confused.
"The jingling of bells." She states as if it were obvious.
Now that she's mentioned them I can hear them getting closer. I turn around to see a giant sleigh and the outlines of 8 animals pulling it running up behind us. Uh oh. only one person in this world rides in a sleigh. The White Witch.
"Peter, it's a sleigh. It's the White Witch! Run!!" I shout, starting to run myself, grabbing Lucy's hand as she jumps from peters back and pulling her behind me.
We run and run until Mr Beaver stops at a small cliff.
"Get under there." He says pointing at the small hole under the cliff edge, pushing us down towards it.
Once we're all under, everything goes quiet.
"It's quiet." Lucy whispers just loud enough for us to hear.
"I'll check if she's gone" I state, starting to climb back up but Peter pulls me back.
"You'll do no such thing! That's too dangerous." He scolds quietly before his eyes turn softer and he pulls me closer to him wrapping an arm around my waist but no one notices.
"He's right, he is. I'll go. You're no good to Narnia dead. We need you, all of you." Mr Beaver says starting to climb back up himself.
"Neither are you, Beaver." His wife tries to protest but he isn't having it.
"Thank you dear, but I have to." He says softly before disappearing above the cliff.
Seeing their sweet moment makes me snuggle closer to Peter. I see Susan's eyebrow go up as she looks over at us and I turn pink, moving away from him as she looks away. Everything is silent until Mr Beaver head pops down from the cliff upside down, scaring everybody.
"I hope you've all been good. There's someone here to see you." He exclaims, beaming at us happily.
Lucy is the first to quickly start climbing back up, Susan following her helping Mrs Beaver. Then Peter goes helping me up after him. We walk over to where Mr Beaver is standing and all of our jaws drop.
Santa Claus is standing in front of me. Santa Claus! He's real? Well, I didn't see that one coming.
"Merry Christmas, Sir." Lucy says cutely, making me smile.
"Oh yes it is, Lucy" Father Christmas replies happily.
"But, Sir, I thought there was no Christmas in Narnia?" Susan asks him timidly.
"There hasn't been for 100 years, but the Witch is becoming less powerful. Well, I have a few presents for you all." He tells us, lifting a heavy sack out of his sleigh and setting it on the ground.
"Ooh, presents!" Lucy says excitedly, making us all chuckle.
"Aha, for you Lucy, daughter of Eve, the juice of the Fire flower. One drop from this cordial can heal any wound. And though I hate to think you'd use it. A dagger." He tells her, handing her the cordial and a small dagger. "For Susan, daughter of Eve, I give you this bow. Trust in it, for it does not easily miss. I also present to you this horn. When in trouble, blow this and help will come, no matter where you are."
"Thank you, Sir" Susan says quietly.
"Sophie, daughter of Eve and Peter, son of Adam, I present you each with a sword. These are not toys, they are tools. The time to use them may be coming soon. Use them wisely. I best be off, I have a lot of work to do to catch up on 100 years work and winter's almost over." Father Christmas tells us, hopping back in his sleigh and soon he was speeding off after wishing us all a Merry Christmas.
As we watch his outline fade and him disappear, a sudden realisation comes to me.
"Peter!" I say shakily, looking at him worriedly.
"What? What is it? You're scaring me." He answers quickly, walking until he's standing in front of me.
"He said winter's almost over. That means-"
"No more ice.." He whispers, finally realising, "The river!"
