"He's sooo handsome!! I bet he already has a girlfriend."
In front of me, Becky and Jess both let out sighs.
I just look at Mireya, thinking it through.
"He doesn't, believe me. I've known him for four years now." Jess says. Jess plays basketball as well...so yeah. She knows Aaron. Becky plays badminton and Mireya is a scout. What do I do? Let me give you a hint, it starts with N, ends with g and has a 'th' in the middle.
It's nothing.
"I bet he doesn't even know me," Mireya pouts.
"Don't think like that Mireya. I'm sure he knows you." I try convincing her.
"Yeah as a random girl. He wouldn't like me."
"You're a wonderful person, of course he'll like you! If he doesn't, it's his loss. You deserve someone who truly appreciates you." The moment the words leave my mouth, I feel embarrassed that I actually said them out loud.
Mireya looks at me, then shakes her head, "You're such a good friend, Kathleen. You're the best!" then she surprises me by giving me a hug.
I'm not a hug person, so for a moment, I'm confused. Then I pat her back. It felt awkward since we were both sitting. She doesn't seem to notice.
"See? Only Kathleen understands me." Mireya tells the others.
They roll their eyes.Suddenly, Georgia's words come back to me. So maybe I wasn't such a bad friend.
We have an ICT period today, so our class leave the building for the ICT lab. The first thing I notice are the guards. Why are there royal guards in our school? They weren't Trisiorian guards, but I recognized the Nuotier uniform. Okay...that's weird.
"Why are there Nuotier guards in our school?" I ask my friends as we exit the building. They too gaze at the guards stations in every corner.
As we near the lab, we see the reason for high security.
"Oh no. What's he doing here?" I groan. All four of us stare at Theodoric speaking with a teacher. The guy has a great sense detection cuz he looks up. He sees me.
If I swear, this is where I would say the 'S' word. I imagine him bringing up our earlier conversation in front of my friends. I'll die of humiliation.
"Oh nooooooo. Let's go!!! Let's go before he sees me!" I drop my head and start striding in the direction of the lab.
"Guys, quick! Cover her," Becky says and all three of them move to my left, blocking me from Theodoric's view.
"He's not looking is he?" I ask my friends.
"He's coming towards us!"
Great. Maybe if I was Cinderella, my Fairy godmother would appear right now and help me get away. Or maybe not. Pumpkin carriages are so old school right now.
It would be easier if I had a superpower. To vanish.
"Eh, Kathleen?" Jesse says. I look up to find a guard standing in front of us.
"Your highness, Prince Theodoric would like a word please."
I want to tell the guard that I do not care if he does, but obviously what do is nod and come to a stop. Honestly, I should learn how to say no."Should we go...?" Mireya asks, glancing at Theodoric's approaching figure.
"Nooo. Please say." I beg them. They agree.
"He looks more gorgeous in person!" Becky whispers.
I give her a look. I hug my books to my chest nervously... My heart is beating fast with anticipation as to how this conversation would go. Would he roast me in front of my friends? Or would he try to seduce all of us? I mean, he's known as a playboy for a reason.
