Pete's POV:

'Pete, what happened?' Joe asked.

'I think Patrick saw the newsflash?'

'About that axe killer?'

'Yeah, his parents were murdered 6 years ago. They pinned it on him. But after those murders Vaughn was created'

'Vaughn?' Joe interupted.

'Yeah he has a split personality disorder. Thats why he was brought here. He wasn't sane enough to go to prison. Vaughn made him believe he really did it and with the help of others repeating to him he did it, he started to believe it. He saw the mugshot of the axe killer and I think that brought him back to that moment'

'So he's innocent?'

'Yeah, I never believed otherwise to he honest'

'Poor kid' Joe said softly and I saw his eyes got teary.

The door to Patricks room opened and I saw nurse Stacey holding a phone and she mouthed to me it was for me. I stood up and walked out of the room, I took the phone and answered.

'Hello, this is Pete Wentz'

'Hi, I'm officer Mcdoughnel from the Chicago PD. I have question. We believe we got the killer of Patrick Stump his parents and we would like him to come here to pick him out of a line up'

'That is not possible at this moment' I stated, getting a bit angry of their wrongdoing.

'And why is that?' Officer Mcdoughnel asked.

'Well, he saw his killer on TV and he tried to kill himself, afraid that he would get killed as well'

It stayed quiet for a moment before the officer spoke again.

'Oh, uh would you please call me when it is possible cause we need his statement to sentence him for what the killer deserves' the officer sweetly asked.

'I'll do that, have a nice day' I said and I hung up.

I was furious at the police. Furious. What would have happened to Patrick if they had believed him six years ago. I bet he wouldn't be so broken and screwed up as he is now. He would still be troubled but he would be and could be kid. They took that from him. He took that from him.

I came back into the room and I saw Joe sitting on his knees next to Patrick. His hand softly caressing his cheek.

'It's going to be okay' he whispered to him.

I couldn't keep the tears back myself as I looked at the fragile small boy lying in his bed. So innocent. Patrick stole a little piece of my heart. He has a special place.

'Joe, I have to go for a bit but I'll be back okay?' He nodded and I left. I just needed a bit of time to process this all.
