Wilbur met the vampire's eyes. He looked hopeful when meeting Wilbur's gaze, only for them to be conquered by realization and sadness when he took note of Wilbur's own guilty and apologetic gaze. He understood the underlying meaning.

Wilbur would not be helping him. He was pretending to be one of them, he couldn't risk it.

The vampire slacked in defeat underneath Techno's grip, the man studying the vampire while giving some advice to enthusiastic Tommy. He let the boy watch eagerly as he talked whilst tying up the unlucky Fledgling.

Not many Fledglings survived nowadays, many of them caught early one by Hunters. It's often why Quackity was so protective over Wilbur, just like he is with Ranboo along with the rest. They're new to the experience of dehumanization and immortality, unused to having to depend on blood to survive, causing them to either be reckless or slip up and get caught. Fledglings are over ninety percent of vampire catchings, and they can catch from twenty to fifty a month.

Wilbur watched sadly, unable to do anything, as his brothers threw one of his own in a cage. He just stared at the vampire—he knew the consequences of being caught, and that he had no choice but to hide it, but seeing it himself while he is one is entirely different, as if it's just now truly hitting him.

"That's all there is to it," his twin's voice spoke faintly. "Understand?"

Tommy nodded, an overjoyed grin on his face. "Yep! I'm going to be just like you, Techno! I'm going to be better, actually! You better watch it, bitch!"

Techno ruffled the blonde's hair. "Sure, kiddo. Whatever you say."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Wilbur, you okay, mate?" Phil's voice brought Wilbur out of his empty thoughts. He jerked, looking towards his worried father—who, might he had, was quite obviously pointedly ignoring the two wrestling behind him.

"Uh—yes, of course. Sorry, I was just . . . thinking about something."

Phil looked even more concerned, eyebrows furrowing deeper with the growing frown. "What is it? Did something happen? Does it include that boy—uh, Quanity, was it?—that came to our house while you were panicking?"

Wilbur snorted at the mispronounced name. "Dad, it's Quackity. And don't worry about it, it's nothing you need to worry about."

Phil opened his mouth, confusion reigning his face, but never got to speak as a song began to ring out. "Let's spend the night together, 'til reach the morning," began to play, Wilbur immediately recognizing it as 'Old Love.' "Up and above, never enough. I wanna hold your hand and show you what is love," rang out as Wilbur went to answer.

"Speaking of, it's Q!" he said as he fished it out his pocket, going to answer.

"Is that a fuckin' love song?" Tommy's disgusted voice rang out.

"Shut the fuck up, I'm answering." Wilbur pressed answer, putting it up to his ear with an overly–large smile on his face. "Q! I'm here with my family—"

"Come to the house," his Sire demanded, interrupting him. Wilbur became worried from the panic in his voice.

"What's wrong? What's happening?"

"I'll explain when you get here, just come here now. I already sent Foolish and Tubbo to get you and bring you here safely, they should be there by now. Can you see them?"

Wilbur looked up, eyes landing on them as they called out his name. "Yeah, they're here."

"Tubbo? Hey, big man! What're you doing here?" rang out in the background from Tommy. Tubbo ignored him, walking right up to Wilbur with Foolish by his side.

"Okay, good. See you soon, niño bonito. Everything's going to be okay."

Wilbur went to respond before the call ended. He turned to the two beside him, one of which pointedly ignoring his brother, whom of which was shooting questions. Foolish was speaking to Phil, telling him some story of a 'surprise' and that they all were friends. "Tubbo, Foolish?" Once the names slipped from his mouth, both of their attention was solely on him, reflexively turning the rest of family's attention onto the vampire. "Let's head out." They nodded in response, leading him away from the confused family.

Everything was on lockdown, it seemed. All fledglings were to be contained with their Sires, both of them to be protected by the guards. There were no longer people scurrying out, joking around, picking fights with hisses and growls. Instead, vampires were slipping into the shadows, rounding up their young with an urgent undertone in even their body language.

"What's happening?" Wilbur questioned as soon as he reached his own Sire, whom appeared stressed. The man in question had wrapped him into an overbearing hug before examining his body for any injuries.

Quackity sighed. "The fucking Essempi Coven's trying to invade the damn city. They're extremely unpredictable and all controlled by their blood lust. They're known for wiping out cities of humans and being ruthless with vampires as well—some even become their slaves, in fields in which they feel like placing them into."

"So what're you going to do? My family's still human, Q! We can't let them fall victim to those rogue freaks!"

Quackity's eyes widened. "Oh, fuck. I forgot about them. I'm so sorry—shit. Do you want me to get Foolish and Tubbo to round them up as well?"

"Yes, please—wait, can vampires get into other vampires' homes? Because we can't enter a human's home without permission."

"Shit, you're right. They'll come barging into our house, it's probably how they killed and enslaved so many of us as well. But we don't have anywhere else we can go."

"My house is up for grabs," Wilbur offered. "My family will just have to share a room, but I'm sure we all can fit—as long as a lot are okay with the floors."

Quackity rose a brow. "Are you sure your family will be okay with that?"

Wilbur shrugged in an 'I don't know' manner. "But it's not like we have a choice. They'll just have to suck it up if they want to live as well."

Quackity sighed. "Alright, if you say so. You go ahead and shoot your family a warning text, I'll tell everybody to round up." Wilbur nodded, fishing out his phone as the man left.

Just a head's up, my friends are all coming over with me in a bit. Sorry. There's been an emergency.

Okay, that's fine. But what emergency? Is everything okay?
