Monday. Peter and Ned are walking down the hall together. Peter is telling Ned about Saturday with MJ.

Ned: So basically you and MJ are kind of together now? And you couldn't answer the phone yesterday because you were with her?

Peter: yeah. We spent all day together. We didn't want to be interrupted by our phones. Why did you need something?

Down the hall Peter sees Betty running towards Liz. Liz is crying.

Betty: Oh my god. Liz!!

Peter: What's going on Ned?

Betty hugs Liz.

Betty: I'm so sorry!

Ned: Liz's dad was missing until this morning. He got into a car accident the night of the dance. He passed away Peter.

Peter's heart dropped. He feels absolutely terrible. He was the last person to talk to Liz's dad. Peter runs to talk to Liz. He knows exactly how she feels. But with this money he doesn't even know what to say.

Betty: You know I'm always here for you no matter what. Let me know if you need anything. Love you!

Peter: Liz.

Peter is the last person Liz wants to talk to right now. Peter really hurt her at the dance. She can't believe he ditched her.

Peter: hey. Can I talk to you real fast?

Liz: I guess.

Peter: Liz. I'm so sorry for everything.

Liz: and I thought you leaving me at the dance was the worst life can get. But my father is dead.

Peter: I'm so sorry for doing that to you. You didn't deserve that. You're an amazing person. I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I just found out. If you need anything let me know. I've been through more loss than the average person. I really do mean well and I hope I can prove that to you.

Liz: Seriously Peter? Thanks for the apology. Do you really think I would want to talk to you? I am hurt. You hurt me.

Peter looks at Liz.

Liz: I'm just so devastated. My mom had to come to school today and tell me about my dad. I just don't want to talk about it right now. I'm not ready. But I don't want to talk to you about it.

Peter: Okay well just know if you do ever need to talk you can come to me. I want to be here for you Liz.

Liz: Please leave me alone. I do wish the best for you Peter. Goodbye.

Liz walks away from Peter. He feels absolutely terrible but there is nothing he can do. He tried to work it out. But he gets it. She's mourning her father.
