The next morning. Sunday. The day of nationals.
MJ shared a room with Liz. Before Liz got up MJ locked herself in the bathroom. She has been trying to cut back on the drugs but things have been rough. Her mom and her have been fighting non stop. She's been happy to get away this weekend. She really wanted to spend time with Peter this weekend but again realizes how he's been to himself. She wonders if she can help him.
Peter has been throwing up since he woke up. Peter doesn't think he'll be able to make it to nationals. Ned has been waiting for Peter.
Liz: Peter, Ned time to leave!
Ned: Peter I need to leave. I'll call you later to check in.
Ned leaves with the team. Peter stays in the bathroom.
At Nationals.
Moderator: Good morning all! Welcome. Please be sure all cell phones are turned off.
The academic decathlon starts. The team is working hard. Answering all the questions they can.
Moderator: We have now entered sudden death.
The teams are tied. Both teams are ready for the last question. Either team could win nationals. The question is asked. MJ presses her button.
Moderator: Midtown Tech?
MJ: Zero.
Moderator: That is correct. Midtown takes the championship.
Everyone cheers and hugs MJ.
