Nancy and Robin, who sat at the front of the car whilst they steered the vehicle in the direction of the shop they were in just a few days ago, were giddily talking about how 'everything makes sense now' and 'how didn't we see that before?'.No one else had agreed to go with the girls, not even Steve or Eddie although they only said that because they wanted to give the two space after all that's happened to the brunette. It was kind of them. While the others just said that they didn't want to go because the outcomes of this could be unpredictable, but it was obvious that they just thought that it was a stupid idea and a huge waste of time whilst they could be doing more important things (like fighting monsters).
Robins mind quickly circled back to how everyone was extremely doubtful when the two girls went to do the research on Victor Creel and what actually happened to his family on that doom-filled day.Even she was slightly skeptical of Nancys impeccable confidence as they strode into the library. The only thing that really pushed her to going with the girl was 1,the fact that she had no other option, and 2,because her crush on Nancy was getting stronger every time she spared a glance at the girl.It went hand in hand. They saved Max by going to Penhurst Asylum as two academic scholars,in which the dirty blonde remoursfully wore a skirt (but anything for the girl you love, right?) and then they became a couple a while later. The story of how that happened is a little touching, well on both their behalfs.
After the murders and all the stuff stopped for a little while, everyone sort of set back into their original routines as if nothing ever happened, and mostly forgot about it.Not the two girls though, they were kind of trauma bonded by everything. They stopped going to school even though letters were sent home about their absences, and they ignored the usual life around them, only taking interest in the usual hangouts with Steve and Eddie or highschool parties, which were faint in their memory after so much alcohol. They knew it was shitty of them.Especially Nancy, who is the biggest over achiever and straight A student in Hawkins, took everything out on herself after about 2 weeks of living like a dropout.Robin, she just tried forgetting everything.
Then one night,on which they still weren't dating surprisingly, they both sat in the brunettes pristine room, pink wallpaper and white satin bedsheets,a closet filled with freshly laundered clothes and a nightstand with the most recent book she read.Like two bestfriends, they perched on her bed,Nancy brading Robins dark blonde hair as 'The Smiths' played from Nancys light blue cassette player. It was the first weekend that they hadn't gotten completely blackout drunk,as they vowed to go back to school and never go to one of those horrendous parties again.A step in the correct direction, even if it was the first of returning back to 'normal'.Nancy finished braiding Robins hair, sighing with a small, bittersweet 'finished' before a wave of sadness washed over her, throwing her into the deepest sea of her emotions. How strange it was that just braiding her friends hair wasn't enough, that she wanted to be closer to her than already. It was okay to feel that way, right?
What if she placed her arms around the girls waist from the back, like Steve and her used to do?Or rested her head on her shoulder? One of her arms reached out and coiled around Robin hesitantly before the girl caught on to what was happening and turned her head around."Is this okay?"Nancys voice whispered lightly, the sound mixing in with the music. The blonde nodded and turned head back again, smiling bashfully as she felt Nancys other arm embrace her and cling on like a snake to a branch. The feeling was oddly comforting,Robins warm body now pressed up against her own as she leaned backwards into the girl and buried herself within her perfume and delicate, cotton shirt, always asking the brunette if what she was doing was alright with her too.It was,of course.
