1914 – Chicago, Illinois
We live in dangerous days. Days of guns, wealth, and power-hungry people. In this world, I hate being noticed. I feel that greed and money have turned the best of them into monsters. Do not misunderstand, I do enjoy interacting with people, but I seem to be bad at it. It is because of this fact that assumptions are made of me. I am mistaken for being stuck up and snobby – thinking I am better than everyone else but that's the farthest from reality. Unfortunately, my family reeks of high-class riches and not the good kind – this is why I am misunderstood and thought to be conceded. I still firmly believe that there are good people in the world – people who choose to walk with their head down and not make eye contact for multiple reasons– as I said these are dangerous days. How I long for a life where I just blend in – when passing strangers on the street is just a normal encounter. Not accompanied by constant halts and conversation. A scene plays out where a hat gets tipped towards you as a sign of respect because of the class and situation my family finds themself in.
