The days, weeks, and months that followed the tragedies were the hardest to endure. No single human should have to suffer two life-changing events simultaneously. A long, painful year seeming to last forever finally came to a close as it crawled past me. Even though three hundred and sixty-fivedays had been between us the pain could still be feltas if no time had passed at all.
It was all the small things that reminded me. The little café on the corner, the walk to and from work, our little house, our framed pictures spread out amongst the walls and tables. Although the flower shop owner had been kind enough to give me plenty of time off, considering my situation, I still found it to be too much to return to work there.
